The Real McCoy's Blue Seal Pants

trm-blue-seal-01I've been spending a fair bit of time this fall trying to track down the perfect navy cotton pants. I want something warm enough for winter but still diverse enough to wear all year round. My first couple choices were Wings+Horns, RRL and Visvim. Wings+Horns updated chino cut just isn't for me as it's too slim and the rise is too high, I couldn't find the right model from RRL in navy and Visvim are my remaining option. Beyond that, the list is surprisingly short for finding a simple navy cotton pant. The Real McCoy's have a great version of their own. While it would probably be a little tougher in feel, the straight leg cut looks just right. Again, it's made in Japan and available at Superdenim. I'm only impressed looking through the Real McCoy's collection each time, there are so many items to pick from and this is another keeper.

Ryan, I can recommend these from Old Town/Tin House http://www.old-town.co.uk/products/plains.htm in navy stout twill. I got a pair myself in a mid heavy navy twill, and the cut is really nice. Relaxed/tapered with a nice medium rise.

^Bjorn - thanks for the link. That site looks great and the pants look just right.

they look interesting but i can't see spending that much on a pair of cotton slacks.

how about the bowery pant from j.crew?

they're US$69.50 and made in China (so the price should really be about $19.95), but i thought they fit really well, on me at least. i got them in hickory and was thinking about getting a pair in blue.

what do you think about the pop chinos from acne? i tried on a pair in the summer that fit quite slim but they have three different cuts, if i'm not mistaken.

Are these perhaps modeled after U.S. Navy Bell-bottoms? If so, I would expect the leg to be a bit more tapered than usual.

i like how this looks, but i agree with most of the other commenters.
wish the leg was slimmer. the wide leg look just doesnt cut it anymore

I think it is more about the tailored wide leg. Perhaps a slight taper, but a pant like this, or any for that matter, doesn't really need to be all that slim. If you want slim, go with Wings+Horns - I personally prefer something with a little more width. The straight leg is just classic, not a matter of cutting it.

Picked up a great pair of Gant navy cotton chinos (Soho pant, not the drawstring version). Slim, heavy fabric and $110. Fit is great

one thing Real McCoy's has on any other brand is the toughness of their garments. I know the majority don't own any but their garments are made for life.
