Nigel Cabourn @ Opening Ceremony

nigel-cabourn-oc-1We've given a fair bit of attention to Nigel Cabourn's fall collection this year and why not? It's amazing. An unexpected stockist, Opening Ceremony, just received their shipment of the season's offerings from the English designer. We can finally see those lovely prices in landed USD and run for cover. Well, maybe not. The prices are high but the products are probably better than anything you can buy. From the quality to the materials to the 40 years of research the lead to this collection, it is worth the money. I personally can't afford to buy the gray Cameraman parka but I would love to. I think it's the best parka for sale this fall and the Macintosh/Harris Tweed body feels great and fits even better. It will be interesting to see how Opening Ceremony do with the collection this fall. Their stock list continues to grow exponentially and the store seems to have more product than racks - but at least their online merchandising has taken a step up with nice quality photos this fall.

This american/ heritage revival is nothing but an ugly trend in the US and Europe. No surprise that Intelectual Eurotrash shops like Opening ceremonies whatever start stocking Cabourn, Yuketen etc.

Their clients are going to buy the clothes too small anyway.

How's Nigel Cabourn American heritage? You couldn't get more British.

Do some research before posting. And surely clothing size is a matter personel preference.

Trend or no trend, Nigel Cabourn's gear is amazing. And if it takes a 'trend' for more of this to become available stateside, I'm all for it.

Did the first poster actually call Nigel Cabourn "American heritage?" LOL! And wasn't opening ceremony founded in the USA? Whew......Anyway, this stuff is beautiful, but too expensive for my plebeian blood. I can dream though.

I would totally get the parka if.... you know.... I actually had a well paying job. Like heflys said, "I can dream though."

Love that flannel. I'm been a little nervous going with something that colorful but seeing it here may have just sold me. Thanks!

I meant american &/or heritage. Please don't tell me you thought I didn't know Cabourn was an english man.

"You can't get more british than cabourn" is a fat LOL Even though his main inspiration is the english garments from the past, he's also inspired by the US navy, utilitarian swedish gear, US aviator/ hunting gear, selling yuketen (american mocs) and redwings along with his own line. His nakameguro shop atmosphere has nothing very british neither.

Talk millerain, barbour, Trickers or even Lavenham as "couldn't get more british" but not Cabourn. Good luck with YOUR research.

Sizing is a matter of understanding the utilitarian design of a garment or the purpose of the designer. A sized down barbour coat looks stupid to me, so do skinny jeans tucked in russells.

The fact that Opening ceremony was founded in the USA doesn't mean that It'll do justice to american heritage brands. They'll just sell the clothes to hipster kids during 2 or 3 seasons as any other fashion stuff they sell. Opposite of japanese retailers for instance who've been doing it for years and will probably keep on doing it for long.

And Yes cabourn stuff IS amazing

Methinks Leopold is a self loathing "hipster"

Leopold,

Who cares what you meant?

The only research I plan on doing over the next few days is finding out what pub in the Twyford region is currently serving the best pint.

Having a go at people i've never met about the clothes they wear is not my style and is not very British.

All the best in your endeavours.

Think harder. Many of us like to shop at oipolloi because they're doing a great job in the long term, selling clothes by telling the right stories about labels they genuinely love and understand. I'm sure you can get that websites like openingceremony are doing a terrible job telling the right stories about labels like Yuketen or cabourn so save your time.

Sorry du but YOU care since you commented 'bout what i said.
I don't care about the clothes you wear. Good luck finding beer.

Finding ale's easy, I don't need luck.

Good luck with the shopping and anger management therapy.
