The New York based collection Unis has been making a strong comeback over the last few seasons. While operating in their own little part of New York, the collection is designed and manufactured only a few miles from its Soho shop. This season the collection included a refined take on their classic 'Gio' chinos and cords in some great colours. We were able to check out a couple pairs recently and put them to straight to heavy use. The chinos come in a couple colors but I personally like the dark khaki and the ideal year-round weight of the cotton. The cords are about a 12-wale thickness, which is fairly fine, and are offered in navy and black. The navy cord is a tough pant to find, especially with a such a good, refined slim fit as these Unis offerings. Neither of the pants come cheap, but they both look and feel great. We'd definitely recommend them to anybody looking for a slightly tapered, more narrow leg and a quality product made in the USA. Unis have just restocked their online shop with both the chinos and the cords.

If these are the same ones I picked up last fall, it's worth noting that though the fit is spot on, the materials and workmanship are a bit shoddy. I would get them on sale come season's end if you can. My pair is pretty light weight, and is a better spring pant anyway.
Hey Sam,
We have had some production issues in the past, but have worked hard to correct them. Unfortunately, there will always be production problems...sigh. In Fall 08 we were still having problems with side seams busting. We repaired many side seams that fall... We tried different things and this season I think we got it right! So far so good. It's really helpful to get customer feedback. We can't correct and improve our product without you guys! As a small company we strive to satisfy our customers. Currently our pants are made at the same factory in New York that Ralph Lauren manufactures Purple Label. Our shirting is made in the same small shirting factory as Engineered Garments. We value your support and hope you come back!
Best,
Eunice

2 years after the fact, while walking by your NYC store wit a friend he asked me if I had seen this post on inventory you made personally in regards to quality issues someone brought up. I said no, but swore that I had been the one to mention that.
Turns out I was right.
I never saw your response til now, and have no idea if you will catch wind of this, but I just thought it was worth mentioning that I appreciate your honesty, and your total lack of defensiveness. That sort of attention to your customers goes a long way in the sometimes-fickle fashion world.
Case in point:
I still wear my 3 year old grey Gios quite often, and other than a mild split at the sideseam near the pocket, they have held up better than I expected. The colors for this fall are great, and I will probably grab a pair in the next month.
So there you go. Some follow-up on your follow-up, albeit several years late.
Take care,
-Sam
