Hickey Cricket Sweater

hicky-cricket-sweaterAlthough I didn't officially play cricket in high school, we did have a pitch at our school, and it was pretty fun when we got to partake in PE class. There are a couple other beautiful spots in Victoria and Vancouver where the game is played in the summer months. I really love the all white attire and mix of slacks, casual sweaters, shirts and hats that are a big part of the game. The cricket sweater is probably the easiest piece to take from the sport and reappropriate into modern menswear. This spring Hickey have put out a version of their own with some success, and some...less success. I feel the sweater should be kept basic in terms of colors. It can be a cable knit or not but I don't think it shouldn't have more than two colors, ie. white and navy, or white and green, navy and grey etc. Needless to say, I find a couple of Hickey's versions to have a little too much going on in terms of colors and stripes. The brown/khaki model is my favorite from the batch and since I like the colors especially this season, I thought it was worth a post - and probably worth a purchase on sale.

I always sucked at cricket.

The navy one was awfully close to my liking, though.

I wouldn't say it's common at all. I went to a private school for the last half of my schooling and the school had a fairly British influence. I don't even know if any other school had a team or program.
