Layered Coats

The layered coats have been showing up in good places the last month or two. First in Junya Wantanabe' fall presentation, and more recently on Mr. Schuman's blog. While I do like a lot of the Junya looks from his recent show, its the photos of real life men wearing the layered coats that has me a bit more into the look. Both of these gentlemen have gone with a jacket or coat that is cropped shorter than their sport coat underneath. I haven't really seen this too often but the result is really nice. It feels a little bit fresh with the use of blue, purple and grey and the navy, khaki and pattern combination is just about perfect as well. Both of the looks are great for dressing down otherwise more formal items and also help avoid having to wear a heavy coat which can be a nuisance at times. You won't be able to pull this off for too long as the weather gets warmer, so take advantage of the next few weeks or great clothes wearing weather.

This just looks uncomfortable! There's nothing more uncomfortable than two fitted jackets on at the same time, especially around the arms & shoulders. I'm
saying this out of my own experience this winter with my top coat being to fitted in the sleeves which is fine until you start layering underneath. A blazer or a chunky cardigan. Forget it. Uncomfortable! Counting the days until spring arrives.
I think as long as you keep the shoulders a little bigger and simply crop the bottom of the overcoat, it is pretty comfortable...just buy a jacket for a guy that is a little shorter and wider than you...it works well here in the midwest...

It's a fine line between fashion and 'the emperor has no clothes'... tread lightly with such trends, or you can look like a real idiot. Just because everybody's doing it...
That's funny. I used to do this sort of thing all the time back in middle school.
But my reason for doing so was the lack of warmth 1 coat provided me. LOL.
i dont know if any of you noticed, but the guy in the first picture has on the Preventi bucks. random, but i thought i should just throw it out there. plus, it's not helping the fact that I really want those in blue suede
