Opening Ceremony has a pretty vast range of footwear that seems to grow more every season. While there are a number of hits, they also tend to come with a fair number of misses, like these zip up oxfords. While the quality of the New York brands footwear has often come under question, the staples of their seasonal offerings remain fresh and undeniably good looking. This spring Opening Ceremony are offering a leather trim sneaker for the first time, at least that I'm aware of. Coming in black and teal, the shoe's silhouette is much like the Vans Authentic and others following the very similar style. This version however is slightly different, with the metal eyelets, leather laces and a couple different leather hits to compliment the canvas body. The shoes are also leather lined which is definitely a must for the price, and if you plan on leaving your socks in the drawer. I'm not personally into the teal color too much but the black does appear to have nothing wrong with it from the pictures. Without laying my hands on these, it's really hard to determine how they feel, how well they might stand up and the value in which I would put on them. I probably wouldn't recommend buying Opening Ceremony online, especially if its a model you haven't handled or seen before. But in case you're up for some excitement, they are available here.

These are on the same Italian outsoles everyone has been using for the last 2 yrs. Now assuming that these are in fact made in Italy, the quality should be just fine. But I say assuming, because that same bottom in being manufactured in China as well w/ permission from the original Italian factory. Because most Italian factories have Chinese factories these days, or relationships with one.
At the price of $290 I would assume it is being made in Italy. But you never know.
On a larger point, can we get off this outsole. Every fashion label under the son has used it. It isn't the only open outsole design in all of Italy. Time to move on.
what is so special about these sneakers Ryan, except for the fact they are a shitty but properly overpriced replica of some else's sneakers?
What's so special?
I like them and they look nice, they're new and they're available. That's not that special I suppose, but that's why I posted them on my blog.
I think they would've looked better with only 3 lace loops instead of 4..
I prefer the other offerings from ceromony - blue/brown featured on details new preppy looks.
these are sooo hipster from, like, 2 years ago
Opening ceremony doesn´t cut it, too much "of the factory shelf" for me.
Portugal & Italian manufactoring is NOT a seal of quality by it self, it´s just another country to produce in.
Very much depends on what factory has been used.
Portugal is very much a dissaster.
