Gladiator Sandals for Guys

acnesandal1306410_largeNo, these aren't another "Don't wear" from Oak, don't worry. Guys have been wearing these gladiator sandals for hundreds of years...while fighting lions with swords and inventing the Olympics. I'm curious if today's male is going to accept these gladiator style sandals into their wardrobe as a footwear option, while not attending a Greek themed party? I actually saw Mr. Stoten, designer of Mjolk, wearing a pair last summer and to be honest, they looked good. He was a fully heterosexual man wearing sandals quite similar to these by Acne, and looking good while doing it. So either it will take an high level of confidence and great sense of style to pull these off, maybe even being in the right city/climate in the world, or of course, a white sheet. I would say good luck selling these for $388 in the middle of a recession.

Sandals are tricky. Take a look at swedish designer Carin Wester, she makes a good looking sandal.

i agree. sandals are tricky to pull off. i know i can't. but seriously though, the art direction at oaknyc.com can make anyone want to get a pair of these. best clothing site i have ever seen.

i dunno id definitely rock sandals, why let a fad with women ruin your perception of these sandals.

i mean the romans were pretty smart, im guessing whoever invented these sandals, maybe he was a greek or a persian, was pretty darn smart and probably didnt even design these, he just crafted them for pure function.

now that i think about it, yeah he defnitely didnt design these, simplicity in design didnt exist then. it was definitely crafted or you could even say engineered. naw you can't really say engineered they defintely crafted them.

maybe if you email the brand that makes them and ask them if you can get some for like 20% above cost price + shipping, might be done deal.

i mean fuck that, every single girl wears sandals they even have sandals at the knock off shoe store, those cheeeep assss stores that sell womens shoes for like 15bucks , copy off designer wear.

still i'd wear these sandals with vigor and glory.

I'd probably rock them with a white sarong and tie it fisherman style where you pull the front through your legs and tuck it in behind (not a mangina), comes off pretty dope, im sure some of you have seen those indian doormans.

and then maybe a chinaman singlet on the top.. sort of keeps to the whole indian/south asian villager style.. except ur wearing 388usd sandals and not bata slippers.

if i didn't need actual shoes I would go barefoot long before I wore sandals . I used to wear the crap plastic jobbies, and occasionaly birkenstocks... but both at this point all sandals scream Amjack or hippie camp counselor.

The idea is interesting. I think it will go over well(if it already hasn't) in Europe. But the U.S.? I think they will just end up being a giant cock block cuz girls will automatically think the guy wearing them is gay. And if you are gay, then perfect.
