Engineered Garments Workaday Fatigue Pant

eg-workaday-fatigue-pant-1Our three part series on cargo pants last month received a lot of comments. Many of you were against the idea and seemed quite steadfast in your views. I fully understand that and though I still believe the right pair are a good option, I don't expect everyone to agree. These, on the other hand, feel like the perfect middle ground. They may have a similar aesthetic but I also think they'd be much easier to wear. The key is probably the absence of thigh pockets which makes the overall appearance a bit more refined. Part of EG's Workaday collection, they feature the same high quality and attention to detail as the main line. They're made from reversed sateen and the mid-green would work well with almost anything. This versatility also extends to the styling. The front and back pockets provide a point of interest but don't intrude too much, ensuring a more subtle military reference. If you're not convinced by cargo pants but want an alternative to denim, cords and chinos, these are definitely worth considering.

Simon,

I have the same pair of pants but by a different designer...What color shirts and/or sweaters can I wear with these olive cargos?

@ trm... I feel like they're really versatile. You could wear them with pretty much anything.

If it was me, I'd wear them with blues and reds. I think they'd look great with a plain navy sweater and a chambray. Maybe a red plaid shirt. I think the options are limitless though.

Hope that gave you a couple of ideas.

Have to say I really like these. The pockets are quite interesting without being overbearing. May well invest in a pair! Great blog.

Yoox has some of the WWM mountain pants from last fall - also a variation on the same theme, with cargo pockets on the front / top of the thigh (rather than the normal positioning). They look less 'military' than normal cargo's

What shoes do you reckon with these?

@ Will... Something heavy would look good. I'd probably roll them up a bit and wear them with a pair of Tricker's or Red Wing. Having said that, I think they'd look great with some old navy blue Vans as well.

There's something about EG's olive color. It's not your typical army dark color. It's alot lighter, and quite frankly, I really like it.

Just got a pair of these last week from Drinkwater's (Cambridge, MA) and I love them! The fabric is so nice and they are incredibly versatile.

Odin carries them in their webstore as well.

thanx Simon!..I saw a nice wool-cashmere cable shawl cardigan at jcrew.com that would look great with these pants..as an added bonus they also have a utility chambray on sale for $69.99

I wish EG was more slim fitting.

September 15, 2009 | Unregistered Commentermichael

Why more slim fitting enough with slim fitting on everything.
Outdoorsy is not about slim fit, it's more about comfort and the spirit behing the clothes.
Simon where nice article again, where can we grab some of those pants?
Blackballard?
TBS is not selling EG online, and i did not find this olive cargo on oipolloi, any idea where i could grab this online?

^Get them from Odin's webstore or from Drinkwater's in Cambridge, MA.

@ Leona... Sorry for not answering you sooner.

Josh has given you 2 really good suggestions but if those aren't convenient, I'd email EG to find out who else has them...

Admitted , I am a little late on this.. hope you can help anyways. I am getting more and more into the thought of purchasing these fatigues, but have no real reference point as to how they actually look on. I live in Denmark and have no EG Workaday retailer where I can try them on. Can someone in here aid with maybe a link or streetshot where these are shown..?
thanks
