Engineered Garments Knitted Argyle Waistcoat

engineered-garments-argyle-waistcoat-1In the same way as the Ralph Lauren knit Owen posted earlier, this waistcoat is a great intermediate piece. I know in isolation it might seem like a tough option but consider it among layers and hopefully you'll begin to think differently. For me, winter is perhaps the easiest season to incorporate patterns. You're likely to favour more muted tones and so introducing some depth and texture is always a good idea. If you look at the image from EG's lookbook, you'll see exactly what I mean. I'd probably forgo the striped shirt and wear it with a selection of block colours but I think it works perfectly as a point of interest. The additional bonus of a plain back - no cinch, no silk - has me seriously considering it and I'm heading to Dover Street Market tomorrow to try one on.

im sorry but that is bloody horrible

if only it weren't argyle. I like the idea of a waistcoat or vest, even a patterned one at that, but something about argyle kills it for me.

Hmm, Im not sure if EG deserve all the attention they get. I have never seen their clothes in real life, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but a lot of their stuff seems just ok on pictures. Anyway, some of their stuff are amazing, like the chambray field parka. I was thinking of purchasing one, but it would cost me £400 including shipping from Japan and proxy fee (SutoCorp, the cheapest one).

Definitely not over pressed on EG, it's the best.

Jonathan+Olivia also have some chambray parkas left for around $300 CAN

I picked up the brown and blue one at Context the other day and love it. I can't wait to wear it this fall.

The whole EG Argyle thing looks hard to pull off.

I like going into DSM, opening all the folded gear and leaving it on the side. The scenesters working in there follow three paces behind me folding it all back up and tutting.

Not cheap in there either, you'd be better off importing it.
