Workaday Corduroy Pants by Engineered Garments

eg-workaday-cords-01I had to delay this post slight as I didn't want to fall victim to the "blog effect" as Mr. Davis puts it. Engineered Garments created the basics collection titled "Workaday" with an extremely simple goal of making comfortable work wear for daily use that would last a long time. The items included are heavy weight fleece, one wash denim, heavy oxford BD shirts and these perfect corduroy pants. The khaki color in particular grabbed my attention this fall as my corduroy pant selection is next to none. The color seemed a little more interesting than the brown and a little easier to wear for then the burgundy. It fit perfectly into my closet and the fit appeared to be spot on for a corduroy pant. The Workaday collection is ironically very difficult to come by as it's supposed to only be awarded to long time EG stockists with great relationships. The Bureau now has an exclusive for Europe with the Workaday pieces, so I was fortunate enough to snag my size in the cords as they are sure to sell out quickly I would imagine. The black, burgundy, brown and khaki are all great options for this fall but the khaki was definitely the perfect injection of color for my pants.

hahaha. Yeah the blog effect can be strong these days. Although with EG it's probably not as strong as other brands-they make it hard enough as it is. Khaki cords are a great option for fall/winter.

There's something about the name 'Workaday' that puts me off this range.

However, to quote Romeo & Juliet:

'What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet'.

I am currently on the search of a pair of fitted cords, i posted some kitsune ones yesterday that invoke the graduate but at 300+, can't really afford them right now. Anyway, to get to the point, how do these cords fit?

^Jack, I'm not sure what sort of exchange rate you're using but they don't cost that much. They come to about $225 and there is a 15% VAT you get back from the UK as well.

They are more slim than the rest of EG's pants, but still casual through the leg and I believe they might have a very slight taper.

I think he meant the Kitsune cords rather than the EG. Hope you haven't snagged my size, hoping to head to the bureau at the weekend. Picked up a couple of nice bits on Saturday including my first Andover jacket :)

^ Sorry if I confused the two. I got the 32 in the khaki color and I also snagged a wool Baker. Can't wait for their arrival.

Which Andover did you get Will?

I have these in both khaki and dark brown and they are perfect in fit, fabric and construction. The problem with most 5 pocket cords is very thin material. The fabric of these is substantial.

Well worth the money.

Hey Ryan, I wear a M in EG shorts/pants and a 34 in WWM. Does that suggest I need a 34 in EG as well?

September 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBrendan

I think you could go with a 34 in the cords as they fit slightly smaller than the marked size. But I wear a 32/M in their pants and a 32 in WWM, but Woolen Mills definitely have a slimmer cut.

I'm definitley on the hunt for a great pair of cords. Thanks for these options. What about a dark navy cord?

Picked up the charcoal glen plaid andover, not the most interesting of the fabrics but probably the most versatile for my wardrobe. The brown herringbone looks superb but I'd recently bought something similar.

I'd love a forest green cord if anyone could advise?

Damien, I noticed Unis has a dark navy cord in their new online shop that looks good.

Will - I think the grey is a great option. Definitely really versatile and will be great for years and years.

What colorway did you get your Baker in? Im contemplating the navy right now... it has better fit than the EG jackets ive tried in the past
