We've been getting slightly badgered in the comments lately for our expensive taste in products and fair enough, we can't afford all of the products we talk about. The idea is more to find a good quality garment that is going to last you and be made as well as possible. Having the specific design detailing is also key, so our options get fairly narrowed down when being so picky. However, sometimes you do just need an easy fix for the season at hand, and maybe even something for a meeting in 30 minutes. All around the world, there is one brand that seems to have people covered, Uniqlo. They make very solid cotton pants, Tee shirts, light fleece and this washed cotton blazer. Especially if you haven't fully bought into the casual sport jacket look yet, trying your hand with this piece is a good way to get your feet wet. It retails for $39.50, looks good and probably can't fit that bad, or would be easy to have taken in. I would recommend wearing it with an oxford shirt tucked in, maybe a wool vest, and throw a 60/40 parka in navy or red over top.

Is there any way to have UNIQLO shipped up to Canada, or do you have make the trip down south?
I can't even find a way to get uniqlo in the states. Maybe I'm just retarded. I ordered once from the UK online shop, but the selection on there is really limited. Shame.
@Nate...For Canada you would have to use a NYC proxy service. If you don't know of one, I could give you the name of one.
@Angelo...The NYC store will do phone orders for those living in the US. Give them a call.
I tried one on in Tokyo a little bit ago, great jacket, little tight for broad western shoulders but nothing a good tailor can't fix.
I've also heard Topman who is now in NYC has put out some pretty affordable well designed pieces as well. I wouldn't mind picking one up myself.
I also live in Canada and would like a NYC proxy service too.

fyi - uniqlo nyc is sold out of the khaki version. no planned restock in sight. olive, navy and black are all available.
Yeah uniqlo is a good option for cheap, decent gear. I've been in China for the past few weeks and they're having pretty decent sales. Picked up really lightweight blazers for 13 bucks U.S. and their new flannels were on sale for 15. not bad..
ah wish i had a uniqlo close. way better than h&m, or zara or any of those other discount retailers.
Ha, I've always wondered if and how all these people afforded all these several hundred dollar pieces, cause I sure as hell can't. I definitely appreciate the post, and uniqlo definitely makes some great stuff at a very affordable price. Never did, and probably never will, really get into the blazer thing though. But yeah, thanks for the post with a more realistic option for the average joe.
The Gilded Age collabo from last season is a far superior jkt imo.
Cotton twill is better and the fit is spot on. Gutted I never scooped the khaki option.
I have this in navy and the fit is excellent. Not too dissimilar in fit to a WWM Upland jacket.
I popped into the Ofxord Street branch in London last week and saw a pair of selvedge denim jeans, made in Japan for 50 quid. That's amazing. And their flannels look great this season.
Maybe it is just my body, the fit of uniqlo jacket is quite weird compare to other cheap alternatives such as H&M and Zara; for one thing, the sleeves is usually quite short and I dun think I have ape's arms either.
I bought and couldn't be happier with this piece in olive...I maintain that Uniqlo is the best quality to price ratio buy in New York City
Does anybody know if this is stocked in the UK? The US store doesn't have the size/color I want.
Also, can anyone help me with the sizing on Japanese Uniqlo? Is it one size larger than the US (ie the exact same medium here would be a large there) or is the cut different also? Thanks guys.
