Preview: Common Projects Summer Achilles

cp-ss10-1

Set to release at the end of the month is a new take on Common Projects classic Achilles model. Named the Summer Edition, the slightly updated sneaker will come with a gum sole and accenting heel tab on the white, black and grey models. The sole is also a little more low profile which was necessarily needed, but turned out quite nice. I never really expected to see an improved Achilles, but being a big gum sole fan, these are looking rather nice. Come spring the sneakers definitely come out a little more often and these will be a top choice for those that can swallow the increasing price tags on Common Projects. They are of course still made in Italy from fine leathers and I've yet to hear about somebody having problems with the quality. I particularly like the white version, but the black is really nice too - difficult choices ahead.

What makes them awful H?

These remind me of Adidas Sambas...like the all white Achilles better.

I think there is something familiar from the Sambas with the gum and white or black leather. Of course the leather interior and generally more clean design make these a bit more appealing to me.
I would have a hard time understanding how these are could be deemed "awful" as well, even if they aren't your taste particularly.

The White one will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine.........

It's funny that these are getting all this hate, these CP's are the first ones i've ever liked and am actually considering buying.
Something about the gum sole, lower profile, and heel pop make them more attractive than the past versions.

I'm not too fond of the black ones, but the white ones look great. If they could achieve the low profile with the original sole, it'd be the perfect pair of Achilles. That said, my favorite pair of CP's will always be the white tournament low (and not the ones with the metal button holes).

I like the samba rip but i'll just go with the OG version, the stripes are what make the shoe complete

Not feeling those gum soles but I'm gonna wait until I see someone pulling these off before I vote on em.

always disliked CP's but these are really attractive. I wonder if the fit is as good as it looks

Gum soles are totally great and pedestrian. Why one has to wait to see someone else pulling it off is weird. The shoes are so normal and crisp that it seems easy to pull off. I loved the Sambas of past so these are great but trainers are hardly worth 3 hundie.
