In Stock: Gitman Bros. for Inventory Items

Gitman for Inventory Items

After a long wait we're pleased to start 2010 with one of our most anticipated Inventory Items, the BD shirt by Gitman Bros. The American shirt makers have become a household name in the last two seasons and continue to move forward with a growing variety of fabrics and collars - but one thing remains the same, they are great shirts. Working with US producers has definitely opened our eyes to the difficulties of small run production and making sure the details get through from our Vancouver HQ to the factory in Ashland. While it will always be a learning process, we are extremely pleased with the end result and our winter shirting. The washed navy blue oxford is perfectly broken in and wrinkled and has been a surprisingly tough colour to find in a 2-ply oxford cloth. While the chambray BD was the more difficult of the two to achieve, the final shirts turned out really nice. We had decided awhile back to go with the white stitching on the blue chambray as it felt more natural and came down to personal taste. We had planned on a chest button as well, but unfortunately it became one of the casualties of cross continent communication. The chalk buttons compliment the chambray nicely while the synthetic pearl buttons look sharp on the navy blue oxford. Our red stitch subtly sits on the back of the neck and the scalloping came in at the perfect height. The shirts are now available online and are going quickly so we don't recommend waiting around too long for your size.

Available exclusively at the Inventory Stockroom, $170

Shirts look great. I am sad to see the chest button didn't make it though. Thought that detail, and the pocket shape, really made the shirt unique.

It's defeating seeing so many Gitman shirts that I am interested in, only to be reminded that the sleeves are never quite long enough for me. Haha, really like the color of the dark blue.

Also disappointed to see that the chest button didn't make it. Shirts look great, haven't picked one up yet but still deciding if I should.

I really love a button down collar on a chambray and a slimmer fit is right up my alley. Hoping to cop one soon.

I just received the chambray this morning. I found that the fit on this shirt is better than the my other Gitman shirts. I might have my tailor, aka my mom, sew in a chest pocket. Other than that, I think the white stitching worked out great, because the I found the color of the chambray to be darker than what stockroom pictures might suggest.

Glad to hear you guys are liking them. Let's see a picture if you sew on a button!
Damien, don't wait long, especially if you want a chambray medium - there's only a couple left!

The chambray (sample I assume) that was advertised in the earlier blog post and in Inventory magazine was far superior to the final product in my opinion. Hope I'm not the only one who feels this way :/

Both are solid but I prefer the dark oxford. Excuse me for my ignorance but how thick is the 2-ply oxford actually? Double the normal oxford? Thanks.

I also received my medium chambray shirt today. I love everything about this shirt.
I think Inventory made a great choice on the fabric.

Someone (preferably one who owns one) sell me the Chambray shirt. Why should I buy it?

as a business owner who's constantly talking to overseas manufacturers... i really appreciate the candor in this post of how the process between designer and builder can get muddled.

i for one would really love a break down of how something like this gets built.

if you have no desire to do so can i shoot a documentary short on how you guys come up with an idea and get it built?

Got my navy oxford today. It's by far the best fitting Gitman I own (I have 10 others, including the red and grey h(y)r oxfords.) and may very well be my new favorite. I wish all 11 of my Gitmans fit this well. Im going to wear holes in this.
