While the Red Wing Lifestyle collection has taken great strides to bring some of the best casual wearing models back to North American and Europe, there still seems to be a number of great looking boots that we just can't get here. The engineer boot is a little bit tougher to adopt to your everyday look for most westerners, while in Japan it seemed to be the boot of choice from a number of brands and styles when we visited this fall. This version by Red Wing comes in a nicely treated leather but the upper is made from an oiled canvas. The colour of the boot really looks great with the white traction tread sole and white stitching. I've definitely been tempted to pick up a pair of engineer boots myself, but I think something like this might be a little bit easier to get into than all leather.

I just said "I'm in awe" outloud
looks like some boots people wear outside the rugged museum. speaking of - did you see the inventory crew was in one of the recent free & easy's?
I have been thinking about boots like this too - sandy and suede.
But without buckles.
Is it not an engineer boot then if it doesn't have buckles?
Who's selling these in Japan?
I can't get pulled in by the beautiful photography. The boots definitely look beautiful, but it's something I can't see myself wearing. With my short legs, the highest I'll ever go with boot height is 6 inches.
Since I normally wear a tapered leg most of the time, I could never get away with wearing these without looking like I was sporting a pair of UGGs, never a good look. Definitely geared for the relaxed fit, workwear types.. If I see anyone attempting the "tuck" with these boots I'll have a good laugh though.
A little off topic, but does anybody have any experience with the Red Wing Wabasha Boot? This one: http://jakedavis.typepad.com/jakedavis/2010/01/dark-and-stormy-or-north-of-more.html#comments
I consider to get some, but I need to know how they fit..
My wife wears those boots...better on girls
Is there anywhere you can order these online?
