Tricker's Green Suede Kendal

Tricker's Turf Green Suede Kendal

For those of you who didn't see The Bureau's spring stock from Tricker's, it's definitely worth a look. While the red brick sole has become nearly as common as boat shoes, I'm not really one to shy away from something I know I like even if everybody and their brother like it too. The red brick sole will always have its place and I feel that it's best paired on a cleanly designed buck in suede. Besides navy and white, olive is probably next on my list. It hasn't been a common pairing for the most part until this spring and The Bureau have commissioned Tricker's to make the latest rendition. I would find myself some olive green laces to put in as soon as possible, but besides that the shoes are perfect. Tricker's are well known to make some of the best shoes available and I'm not surprised to see they've done this lovely combination more than justice.

Oi Polloi also sold a nice pair of green bucks by Sanders earlier this year that sold out in a quickness.

How would you compare this to the version you sell?

How can you compare something you haven't seen, and by the way the mcnairy shoes are made by sanders. From these photographs the sanders last looks nicer than the trickers.

C'mon, ChuckD, that's like asking who you love more, your mum or your lady. He's humping the Inventory pair, but the Bureau pair paid his way through life...

nick its cause some people on here go by every word these boys say, its the holy grail. What they say, they will wear

I definitely think that both of the shoes are nice. Although I haven't seen this exact pair of Tricker's, I've seen enough of their product to know how it feels and stands up. I would say that I prefer the shape of our McNairy bucks a little bit more. The size of the sole, the shape of the toe, all around it just suits my tastes a bit more. I do think that Tricker's probably makes a better shoe in general. It's probably a bit tougher, might last a little longer and if you'd like a buck that looks a little tougher, I think the sole on these Tricker's lend itself well to that look.

Trickers quality > McNairy/Sanders quality.

Not that it's a competition or anything. The mcnairys are nice but Trickers really are a step above in the quality stakes.

When Trickers can't handle a big order they get Sanders to make the excess. The only real difference in Sanders and Trickers is branding and cost.
They're essentially the same shoe.
I own both a pair of the recent Trickers bucks and last years Yuketen bucks, the Yuketen win hands down for chunky ruggedness, they are built to last. Id say the Trickers are slighter and more 'dressier'.
Lets stay on point, guys.

I wonder if these soles are as fragile as the McNairy's? Stepping on anything remotely solid and jagged (i.e a rock) can leave an unsightly impression on the sole, I've got huge craters on mine. Anyone else finding this annoying? I'm with Glenn K, the Vibram unit used on the Yuketen's look like they would keep their shape regardless of the surface they found themselves on

Sanders making excess production for Tricker's is not a fair analogy of the true situation. Sanders make two shoes for Tricker's that are sold only through Tricker's own retail store and it is sold there at a certain time of the year. No other production comes out of Sanders for Trickers.
There are many different aspects that go towards the price difference between factories though they may both use the same construction techniques. The main aspect being the components. Whether it is the quality of the lining, insole, the welt or the quality and thickness of the sole. Last but no means least the quality of the upper. Trickers always use the best quality calf leather or other leathers of equal or similar quality. The price of their suede is comparable with that of a quality calf leather. Sanders regularly use a corrected leather for their uppers and this also leads to a sizeable difference in prices.
On a point of trivia, one of the other historical reasons for the price difference between Church, Crockett & Jones, Trickers and a few other "town" manufacturers and what they call "county" manufacturers like Sanders and Alfred Sargents was the difference in wages paid to a town worker from Northampton and that of the worker who lived in the rural part of the county where these other companies are located. Obviously, in this modern age this is no longer the case.

Im sorry but im not having that a a better quality insole component or sole or the lining justifies a shoe being priced from 120 quid to 280.

And I still stand by my claim that Sanders help with bigger Trickers orders.
However, lovely bit about the town/city workers. I love trivia like that.

"Last but no means least the quality of the upper. Trickers always use the best quality calf leather or other leathers of equal or similar quality."
I'm sure that's where the main reason for price difference comes from Glenn as well as the other smaller factors.

Don't believe the hype.

Ah, don't be so pessimistic big man.
If you'd rather make do with second best that's up to you.
