Stone Island 30

Words

Last night Stone Island opened an exhibition at Stazione Leopolda in Florence. 'Thirty Years of Research History and Experimentation' was curated by Simon Foxton and Nick Griffiths, alongside Carlo Rivetti. The presentation was very impressive, spanning several rooms, a variety of displays and displaying some incredibly innovative garments. The exhibition also featured a short film with interviews, brand imagery from the last 30 years and showcasing the company's headquarters. The exhibition is definitely worth a visit if you have the opportunity and if not, Stone Island have produced a book documenting the majority of the archive.

Unearthed: WW2 USN Herringbone Cap

Words

Of all the things hardest to find in the vintage market, well-fitting headwear must surely rank among the most difficult. At least for me, because whenever I come across a nice Daisy Mae, or interesting military cap of some sort, the size usually ends up being minute, and the hat unwearable. Which is why the hat stand I don't have is bare, while the iPhoto folder I do is heaving. This particular "find" comes from the always excellent A Platform Journal. Which you should probably bookmark, if for some reason you haven't already.

Featuring a premium cotton, mother of pearl buttons and a slim cut, this Comme des Garcons SHIRT piece is simple, basic and perfect for the summer. The shade of green is especially nice in the gingham pattern, and the subtle details make for a very appealing garment.

This past Sunday I was fortunate enough to be in London for Margaret Howell's Spring-Summer '13 menswear show. The collection looked especially nice with a mix of green and grey tonal outfits featuring beautiful shirting, great trousers and some fine looking outerwear.
