Words

It just might be too late to get a spot, but this Saturday Old Faithful Shop is hosting the ladies from Victory Gardens. The intimate workshop will be focused on container gardening, and each participant will leave at the end of the day with their own planter. What could be better on a spring Saturday morning?

Words

The SS12 issue of Arena Homme Plus features one of my favourite editorials in recent memory: a look back through the archives of Massimo Osti, the famed italian designer whose work for CP Company, Stone Island, Left Hand and Massimo Osti Production helped define a culture, era and movement. The editorial is shot by photographer Mel Bles and styled by Max Pearmain, while a small but excellent article by Lodovico Pignatti-Morano examining Osti's influence and legacy immediately follows it. A monograph on the designers work, which features an essay by Franco "Bifo" Beradi, is due to be published later this year.

Words

Shot on location at the Japan Lutheran College by Kiyotaka Hatanaka, the MHL Spring-Summer '12 look book has been doing the rounds on various blogs and websites over the last few days. And understandably so: the clothes, styling, light and location all work together to portray a look and mood that perfectly encapsulates the MHL line.

Neil Bedford

—01. Inventory Issue 06: Neighborhood SS12 editorial.

Words

Not only is Neil Bedford an extremely talented photographer, he's also a pleasure to work with. We're lucky enough to have counted him among our contributors since Issue 02, and I'm proud of the work we've done together. Often challenging, and always incredibly well executed, I feel strongly that his editorials, usually produced with Stephen Mann, are an essential part of our magazine. These images go some way to illustrating that point, but for an insight into his work beyond Inventory, you really should take the time to explore his new website.

Beams Boy Spring Looks

01

Images

01. Sweater and skirt by Beams Boy.
02. Spring colors.

Words

Beams always do a wonderful job with their seasonal catalogs. A nice mix of product shots and styled looks showcase the mix of in-house products and select brands very well. This spring however, the women's version of Beams Plus, Beams Boy, may have stolen the spotlight.

Steel Bookends From BOOK/SHOP

01

Images

01. Steel Bookends.
02. Powder-coated.

Words

Although I predominantly buy books to make my apartment look more intellectual, I do occasionally read one or two of them along the way. The bookcase we have was found on the street, weighs a ton, and truth be told is pretty ugly. These little chaps might improve it a little, and would definitely look the part if I ever got around to putting a shelf or two on the wall. Then again, that might also look like I'm trying too hard. Conundrums.
