Battenwear's 5-Pocket Island Shirt is my favorite piece from their spring collection. The casual silhouette and great fabric make for a perfect warm weather piece. The dark red pattern works nicely with navy, olive and white bottoms, providing both versatility and a unique texture.

Each season Engineered Garments is one of the brands I'm most excited to see. Their lookbooks are always interesting, exciting and very well executed. The Fall-Winter '13 offering is no different. With a playful mix of patterns, materials and a few new styles, the latest collection is unsurprisingly one of my favorites.

Through Margaret Howell's MHL collection, the brand continues their work with Converse. This spring they released three colours in the classic All-Star model, but the re-arrival of the simple, paired down, Jack Purcell looks especially nice.

Mountain Research has really been intriguing me from what I see online with their last few collections. While the brand does seem quite modern and technical, their pieces almost always seem heritage inspired. A real standout for me are these military inspired pants made of cotton duck with a removable belt. The front patch pockets and side slit pockets are a unique and interesting detail. Plus, both colours offered, brown and olive green, are very appealing. Most of the Mountain Research line is nearly impossible to get in North America, so for now I'll have to dream.

Young Art in Los Angeles is currently showing an exhibition entitled "Beauty: A Picture To Look At, A Song To Listen To", by the Los Angeles artist and graphic designer Harsh Patel. The show is only his second solo exhibit and consists of a selection of multiples from Patel's most recent publishing label 3DX, that are being shown alongside several unique works including a drawing, a flag and a framed selection of records.

To coincide with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, Sight Unseen founders Monica Khemsurov and Jill Singer have helped to organise the NoHo Design District. From May 17-20 they will bring together designers and retailers for an interesting and inspiring mix of mediums and people. After working with Kyle Garner of Sit and Read on our New York store, it only made sense to host the launch of his canvas Sling Chair, which you'll find at our Extra Place location this weekend.
