Engineered Garments Intermediates Pull Over Shirt

Words

One of the few pieces to have surfaced from Engineered Garments’s Intermediates collection is this great looking pull over work shirt. It has similar pockets to the EG “Classic Shirt” but with only three buttons down the placket, a mellow scalloping on the side and a nice mix of color – its a pretty diverse piece of cotton. The collar appears to be a good size while the white buttons definitely prove to be the best choice.

Laco Beobachter Uhr

Words

I’m in need of a wristwatch. Fishing my phone out of my pocket to check the time is definitely getting tiresome, not to mention a bit a dangerous while riding my bike. When it comes to watches, for me it’s all about simplicity and readability so In the past I’ve worn the usual cheap classics like Casio and Swatch. But they’ve always felt disposable stop-gaps. I’d rather invest in something that’ll be with me for a long time and feel like it too. Obviously a more renowned watch like Bell & Ross or Rolex would be nice but Laco is a more realistic price range. The Beobachter Uhr or Observer Watch is basically ideal to me, a nice simple face devoid of branding with a leather strap. I prefer the smaller size of the Series 0 versions and for me the brown strap with olive face is a bit more interesting than a more standard black/black. It’s a great looking watch with an interesting history and something that could quite easily be in a family forever.

Look: Refreshing

Words

Once again the weather has been teasing us in Vancouver with some of the warmest days of the year. I actually thought about wearing shorts yesterday, so I am today – at least in this post. Along with the warm weather you need to stay refreshed with fluids and since the bottle of water didn’t go over too well last time, I’ve opted for a new Inventory favorite. As well, we have a couple of new items in, and coming into the Inventory Stockroom, including these great looking peanut grizzly canoe moccasins by Quoddy and our recent Inventory Tattersall BDs by Gitman.

A.P.C. Jacket

Words

A large chunk of their clothing is inspired by the military, so it’s hardly surprising how blatent the reference is here. The lighter desert themed camouflage is a nice lively pattern for the spring and it’s a little bit more subtle than the desert storm camo you might find on surplus jackets. The washed out faded tones of the jacket make it easy to wear with basically any colour and the straightforward, somewhat slim cut allows for it. As with all A.P.C. the jacket’s utility is great as it’d look just as good on its own as it would under a windbreaker.

Heller's Cafe x Warehouse BD Shirt

Words

Warehouse’s ongoing relationship with vintage company Heller’s Cafe always seems to result in great pieces of vintage reproduction that I’d happily add to my wardrobe. One I’ve been eyeing lately is this deep blue, heavy cotton shirt with printed dots at Blue in Green. The dotted workshirt is a somewhat unique pattern and a nice reference point which I like. The pocket configuration is perfectly simple and I’m always a fan of little details like run-off stitching. The collar seems a bit pointy and long as it’s done up here, but once washed and worn it would be fine.

Words

On April 22nd a couple of our friends are getting together in New York. The Unis shop on Elizabeth St. will welcome Sit & Read Furniture’s Kyle Garner in to furnish parts of the store with his collection of vintage pieces. The combination of the space, the Unis brand and Kyle’s taste is definitely a great marriage and it should keep the shop even more interesting and fresh looking beyond the already strong spring collection from Unis. It also turns out that our Spring–Summer issue of Inventory magazine, which comes out at the end of the month, features both Unis and Sit & Read Furniture. To top it off, one of our most valued contributors, Ken Tisuthiwongse has photographed a couple of looks for the collaboration and to showcase the Unis spring items.

Post Overalls Calico x Blue Royal Traveler Vest

Words

Post Overalls aren’t always a brand to explore with a lot of different patterns, but this spring they’ve done a very nice looking version of their classic waist coat in a calico royal blue. The pattern is interesting, but subtle enough to look great with chambray or a blue oxford cloth. It’s definitely one of my favorite items in the spring collection.

Words

A nice lightweight scarf is a great way to top off a transitional spring outfit. There are plenty of choices on the market each season, but that just makes the hunt for something special a little harder. Wtaps have a couple of very nice looking gingham scarves in easy to wear black and navy.
