Nepenthes Asymmetric Gibson by Tricker's

Words

If you want a traditional brogue these probably aren't for you. If, on the other hand, you want something a little more unusual, they might be worth tracking down. More and more brands are collaborating with classic shoemakers, but few are producing anything genuinely unique. Nepenthes, however, are one of the exceptions and this is always evident in their work with Tricker's. Asymmetric toe pieces may seem like an odd twist, but they give the shoe a subtle character, and combined with a suede upper, it's one I'm definitely a fan of.

Richard Serra's Junction / Cycle at the Gagosian

Words

Two new large scale works by Richard Serra are currently on display at the Gagosian Gallery and well worth an hour or so of your time if you happen to be anywhere close by. Junction / Cycle are both sculptures created in the artists preferred medium of waterproof steel, and in this case the oxidization of the material has turned the sculptures a striking bright orange colour, which offers plenty to those passing through the maze of the pieces themselves. Serra says the sculptures were designed as much with the space between them in mind, as with the form and materials used: "I consider space to be a material. The articulation of space has come to take precedence over other concerns. I attempt to use sculptural form to make space distinct."

Weaver Moccasin Ruddy Duck

Words

I'd been a little on the fence about this shoe brand, not being overly familiar or taken with the designs until now. I like the reference and the idea behind the brand, but it's always seemed to me: if you want Clarks, buy Clarks. Having said that, I can appreciate the details, changes, and improvements the brand has made to a handful of classic designs; with the small burst of colour on the Ruddy Duck model recently received at Silver & Gold being one such appealing tweak.

Words

I like corduroy and I like western shirts, why not put them together? LVC have produced a couple of great looking, simple westerns in some nice shades of this great fall fabric. I particularly like the tan color as it would look great with some washed denim.

Engineered Garments Funny Packs

Words

Engineered Garments often put out a couple of nice bags each season. Last spring the canvas duffle pack was a good piece, and this fall their 'Funny Packs' look especially good. These colors are my favorites, the size looks ideal, and the price is about what you'd expect.

Another season, another impeccably shot and styled lookbook from 45rpm. I honestly could have posted every image from their winter offering. Back outside after a stint in the studio, it looks absolutely amazing from start to finish. These are some of the highlights, but make sure you click on the link below and look through the entire thing.

Nike Gyakusou Fall-Winter '11

Words

Although I'm not the greatest runner myself, I am drawn to the Gyakusou collection each season. This fall appears to be one of the best from the preview that Firmament are giving us as well. The 'Running Monks' video was also really nicely done. The use of greys, oranges and different shades of blues all mix nicely. There's a good chance I'll pick up a couple pieces this season, unfortunately not in time for my first half-marathon this weekend, which it obviously would have made me run much faster for had I been decked from head to toe in multiple layers, zip off sleeves and a couple dozen bonded hidden pockets.

Available soon at Firmament
