Engineered Garments FW11 Lookbook

01

Info

—01. Should start to deliver in mid-August.

Words

The Engineered Garments FW11 has just recently made its way online, and around the internet in no time. It's one of my favorite look books from the New York based brand, with great timing, the art work in the Nepenthes NY store turned out to be a great back drop for the colors in the collection. With lots of wools, a bit of floral, some new styles and some classics - it is a very strong fall collection, coming soon. There are even several styles not even featured in these images that were some of our favorites of the offering as well, so keep an eye out for a couple new pieces of outerwear from Daiki this fall.

The North Face Purple Label Bush Hat

01

Images

—01. Availalble in navy and khaki.
—02. Wind proof lining.
—03. Draw string neck strap.

Words

The North Face Purple label does need to come out west, hopefully sooner than later. The accessories, fabrics, prints and patterns are incredible and although this bucket cap is one of the more sublte pieces, its a good example of the brands ability. Lined on the inside, made with slubby cotton and featuring a classic mountaineering strip around the cap, it looks great, seems to fit well and would be nice to have weather in the heat of the city or trekking out to the lake.

Wtaps Incense Holder

01

Info

—01. Made in collaboration with Kuumba.

Words

I think I've already added this to my basket three times, but have yet to buy it. I really like some of the smaller lifestyle 'accessories' made by brands like Supreme and Wtaps. This incense holder in particular looks great with its military styling, olive green tone and classic Wtaps branding.

Preview: Woolrich Woolen Mills 'Four Hands' Parka

01

Images

—01. Leather placket & US clip fasteners.
—02. Thigh length, down parka.

Words

The clever name of the parka refers to the number of hands that worked on the design for this piece. As a welcoming in and a sending off, Mark McNairy and Daiki Suzuki worked together on this epic Woolen Mills piece to create a rather subtle and and refrained parka. Many designers take things over the top on their own, so I think the simplicity of the parka shows a certain respect for the Woolrich brand, as well as the good taste of the designers involved.

01

Info

—01. Outdoor Style - Backpack special.

Words

We just received a healthy stock of Japanese magazines this week in the shop. On top of the usual suspects of Free & Easy (featuring Mr. McQueen on the cover) and 2nd - we've also received HUGE and Outdoor Go Out Style. The Backpack edition of the magazine features some great products, styling and people. HUGE is one of the best issues we've seen from the publication, with a special TooLS section on the inside, which happens to feature our Epperson Mountaineering Day Pack for Inventory Items.

Leroy Grannis - Legendary Surf Photographer

01

Info

—01. Photographs by ©LeRoy Grannis. All rights reserved.

Words

Leroy has provided us with some of the nicest surf photography dating back to the early 1960s. Odds are if you've seen any shots of the Southern Californian or Hawaiian surf culture in the 1960s and 1970s, he probably captured it. From black and white to an explosion of Technicolor, he really helped frame a generation of surfers. As Leroy passed away earlier this year, it's important to remember his contribution to that era of surfing. Before the shortboard, endorsements and telephoto lenses, when the sport was really at one of its most pure stages of evolution, his iconic photos help depict an era with absolute beauty. His photos will live forever along with the essence behind every shot, the love of the sport.
