Terrence Malick's debut, starring a James Dean-esque Martin Sheen alongside Sissy Spacek, is a poetic and beautiful take on the traditional outlaw-couple-on-the-run Hollywood narrative. While it took Malick five years to make his sophomore feature, Days of Heaven, and a further two decades for his third film, The Thin Red Line, Badlands was the original catalyst for all that followed from the acclaimed director. Emmanuel Lubezk, his Director of Photography on his latest two films – 2011's Tree of Life and 2013's To The Wonder – oversaw a newly restored version of the seminal release, which is currently playing at New York's Film Forum, as a limited engagement until May 18th.

A couple of great jackets from the SS13 collection of Keizo Shimizu's hard-to-come-by Sonic Lab line; now available, along with several other pieces, at the Nepenthes stores in Tokyo and Osaka, with New York hopefully added to that list soon.

Saucony has always made classic running shoes in the vein of the more ubiquitous New Balance. I find them slightly more unique than New Balance, only if for the sheer fact that they are not as recognizable. White Mountaineering has done a collaboration for SS13 picking up where they left off last season with the Jazz model, they have made three different colourways in the, only slightly less retro, Courageous model.

Just opened and running until June 22nd at Gagosian's Madison Avenue gallery, this immense show features over 400 black and white photographs taken by Dennis Hopper between 1961 and 1967. These images have not been exhibited in the US since 1970, and the "cultural events, iconic individuals, and intimate moments that caught Hopper’s attention, constitute a panoramic view of the sixties that combines political idealism and humanistic optimism with California cool." The show is a must-see for those with an interest in "the establishment-busting spirit of the 1960s," but The Lost Album is also an accessible body of work, worthy of widespread attention.

Running for another week or so, Michael Dean's solo exhibition at Herald Street gallery in London, looks like a fine way to spend some time inside. The artist, from Newcastle upon Tyne in the north of England, is showing a range of pieces in various mediums, including sculptural work produced using concrete and glue.
