New Releases from Makr Carry Goods

Words

Despite having just recently finished designing the interior for the new Unis store in LA, Jason Gregory of Makr Carry Goods has also managed to find the time to launch a whole host of new products online. Jason and his team have recently improved and added to the popular Farm series with various new colourways and models, while the Makr Studio Goods line has also grown to include new versions of their Studio Stool and several reworked wall hooks. Not featured here, but also highly recommended based on it's continuous personal use, is the Makr Bottle Key. Very, very handy.

New Balance at End

01

Featured Items

—01. Navy suede 577 with grey accents.
—02. Slighty more unusual olive 574s.
—03. Timeless 998s with hints of burgundy

Words

New Balance aren't all that hard to find these days, but just up the A69 from Flimby in Newcastle, End always seem to have one of the better selections of the classic running shoes at any given moment. Choice versions of the quintessential 577 and 998 are in two colours of suede — navy with grey and grey with burgundy respectively. The often overlooked 574 is in a nice olive suede right now as well, as well as a couple of decent options in perhaps my favourite model the 1500.

Martino Gamper

—01. 100 Chairs.
—02. The Arnold Circus Stool.

Words

Martino Gamper is a furniture designer responsible for several pieces I had seen, without ever knowing the source of their design and creation. Luckily those threads were recently pulled together and I can now consider myself an admirer of his work. Two of my favourite collections of his are the 100 Chairs project; in which he designed and produced 100 different chairs over a period of 100 days, using parts from found and discarded old chairs, and the Arnold Circus Stool; which was designed to be used at the Arnold Circus venue in Shoreditch East London, for either seating or storage. Made out of rotation molded plastic in several colours, the stool is currently available for purchase at a very reasonable price, while the 100 Chairs project has been collected in book form, and can be ordered from Dent-De-Leone.

Issue 05: Behind the Scenes

01

Image

—01. Shooting Stereograph.

Words

A selection of behind the scenes imagery from the Issue 05 editorial Stereograph. The story, styled by Stephen Mann and shot by Neil Bedford, focuses on the clothing and footwear of Paul Harnden, and is one of my favourite editorials to appear in the magazine to date.

Words

Having spent a fair amount of time in the air recently, it's been important to have good reading material readily at hand. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of items I'd been meaning to get for a while now, at Utrecht in Tokyo. The now defunct Purple Journal has always been a personal favourite, and I try to pick up back issues whenever, and wherever I can. Too Much Magazine on the other hand is a more recent publication that I'd been seeing here and there on the internet, but never before in the flesh. Both come highly recommended.

"Kiosk is a travel story depicted through objects, a collection of interesting things from around the world, a study of material culture, a shop, several people's efforts to preserve unique and indigenous objects, an installation, maybe just something other than what we are used to. Kiosk features the things that generally go unnoticed, products that are the result of local aesthetics and needs. Their motivation is to give attention to these anonymous objects and support independent producers. Neighbour and Kiosk have started an ongoing relationship where items sourced by Kiosk from their travels around the world, are now available at Neighbour."

Woolrich Woolen Mills College Scarves

01

Info

—01. Available in two colors.

Words

One of the best items in the fall-winter Woolrich Woolen Mils collection. It's simple and effective, and basically a necessity in the cold winter weather. Both color options are classic enough and provide manageable dose of plaid.
