Pete Raho: Gowanus Furniture Co.

Words

In a new video series presented by Mount Gay, The Original Spirits project takes an in-depth look at artisans who share similar values to the Barbadian rum producer: handmade, high-quality, history and progression. With an emphasis on unique products, Pete Raho's Gowanus Furniture Co. aims to create items for the modern consumer with a strong reference to the past. Located in Brooklyn, New York, he's best known for the Kentile Cutting Board, but it was his Treehouse Window Planters that grabbed my attention. While Raho is one of several subjects highlighted by these short films, his designs especially resonated because they have a classic warmth which would feel immediately natural in your home.

Words

These keychains, much like Postalco’s whole range of products, are impressively basic, yet entirely unique and well-designed. Available in two hand-milled configurations, one resembling abacus beads and the other a simple totem, they hold up to ten keys and make for an everyday item that one might not generally consider upgrading.

Words

It would be difficult to argue that the 1970s Chuck Taylor models haven't been a huge success for Converse. After only a year and a half on the market, they've quickly become the go-to shoe for men and women wanting a more premium All Star option. This fall is the first time they've released suede versions of the style outside of their First String program, with two colours now arriving at select retailers.
