Staples: Engineered Garments Workaday Fatigues

Words

I can't really say any of the Engineered Garments Workaday pieces aren't staples for myself, but the Olive Sateen fatigues are probably one of the best items they offer. Always a classic, the wide leg pant has just the right balance of clean detailing, reference to the original vintage version and updated fit. While that doesn't refer to the width of the leg, the cut of the pants and the way the fabric in particular washes and wears is really nice.

Words

Among Superdenim's recent magazine releases are the latest issue of Workwear and an American Heritage edition of Lightning produced with The Flat Head. Although the monthly Japanese publications are always a great source of inspiration, it's these kind of comprehensive special editions that I find myself going back to over and over again.

Words

Daiki Suzuki has picked out a handful of great floral patterns this spring. One of the less hyped, but nice looking shirts is this button up camp shirt from the Woolen Mills collection. I like the straight cut of the shirt, and the clean detailing makes it pretty easy to wear.

In Stock: Heller's Cafe

Words

We were pleased to be offered the Heller's Cafe x Warehouse collection by our friend Larry earlier this year. The collection has grown well in Japan since its inception, but outside of J.Crew it's been tough to track down. This spring we were able to get our hands on some of our favorite flannels and printed tees, as well as a really unique sweatshirt and a great work shirt. The pieces have already been moving out the door quickly, and the numbers are limited.

Mountain Research Utility Jacket

Images

—01. Light weight summer jacket.

Words

I really like the use of camo in a light weight jacket or over shirt, and this piece is exactly that. I rue the miss opportunity to get The Real McCoy's herringbone camo shirt in our first delivery, but this Mountain Research jacket might be a good alternative. The style of pockets, weight of the jacket and shape all appear to be spot on.

Warehouse Rough-out Ring Belt

Words

Warehouse continue to grow their collection with a nice addition of leather accessories this spring. The ring belt has always been a favorite of mine, but only from afar. I haven't found the right one for me, so I haven't actually started wearing one yet. I quite like the simple touch of using the rough side of the leather on the front and back of this version, along with the clean stitch details.

Words

The continued success and growth of the Gyakusou line is exciting to see, and I am looking forward to the coming fall collection. I really love the concept and execution, but I had a hard time picking a few items this spring that I actually wanted to get. This light weight jacket is my favorite outerwear piece for sure, the navy color especially looks nice.
