Apolis Activism Katin Board Shorts

01

Words

It might not be quite time to get much use out of these, but you might as well pick up a pair when you can. There are a very limited number of good looking swim trunks out there today. Birdwell has a nice cache, and do look good, but the fabric is so harsh, they are just not very comfortable. Orlebar Brown make some great looking shorts, but the prices can get pretty high for beach and lounge wear. Apolis Activism have linked up with Katin again for a simple range of board shorts and they are easily the best options I’ve seen. The red, green and blue are all easy colors and the clean white stripe, single side pocket and clean patch look just right.

Apolis Activism USMC Jacket

Apolis Activism USMC Jacket It's always good to have at least one really tough jacket on hand in the fall and winter. Something you can look great in, but not hesitate to beat up at a moment's notice. The USMC jacket but Apolis Activisim might be just that. The waxed cotton exterior is quite heavy and feels really tough. It's made in the USA and comes with a very substantial virgin wool liner. The liner is removable and feels a little bit more like a different jacket as it is a little tough to put on smoothly. That said, it feels comfortable, warm and definitely tough enough for the fall. It's available at Roden Gray in Vancouver, but you can also find it online here. The Apolis collection continues to improve each season and this is one of my favorite pieces from this fall.

Apolis Activism, Nepal

nepal2.jpg Over the last year we've seen Apolis Activisim take strides to build global relationships that result in both the aide of a foreign organization or working group and a fine product. The approach is refreshing to see, and we'll be taking a look at the most recent journey to Nepal. While teaming up with a couple members of team Rapha, they have been traveling through Kathmandu on two wheels for the trip. Shea Parton reports in on the latest news from Apolis  + Rapha journey: — "We spent the morning getting sun burnt while assembling bikes on the roof. We planned the next few days over breakfast and walked into town to meet up with Prakash Bhurtel, Nepalese manager of the Citta women’s center. With the extra traffic from today’s petrol strike we decided to head by Citta later in the week and spent the afternoon walking through the city. Our first ride this evening we were quickly reminded about the left side of the road while we making it through another traffic jam: rick shaws, taxis, livestock and motorcycles. With the daily power outage being right on time a few of us headed to the second day of the wedding, over one thousand Nepalese attended and gave us a new appreciation for Bollywood being real and alive." nepal-trip-1.jpg

Apolis Activism Philanthropist Tote

apolis-activism-toteApolis Activism is back at it again with another nice looking bag for us. Although not with Filson, the LA based brand has teamed up again with the Invisible Children's cotton initiative on this project. The Philanthropist Tote comes in a 17.5 oz canvas and bears a 3.5 oz hand painted cow hide leather handle. The nice pocketing, sturdy base and classic olive green come together well to create yet another buyable tote bag. The fellas at Apolis have been working double time with their recently collaboration pieces with Rapha and Filson, and continue to grow the collection each season. With the fall collection hitting stores now, be sure to keep an eye out for chambrays, chinos and military inspired jackets. apolis-activism-1apolis-activism-2apolis-activism-31 tote1

Apolis Activism + Filson Briefcase

apolis-filsonSurprisingly nobody has been able to put together any collaborative works with Seattle's renown hunting/lifestyle brand, until now. Filson make some of the most classic, iconic and attainable bags on the market. With strong canvas and nice saddle leather, there is no denying their appeal. Apolis Activism have managed to put together a bag with them for fall, utilizing some of the special factors of their business. Apolis Activism isn't just a catchy name, the seem to work hard to actively try to help people and their surrounding economy. For this project they contracted Invisible Children from Uganda to source and develop their native canvas for the bag. Apolis tries to "create opportunities for developing economies by connection them to the global market place." I had heard about the project a little while back but it's nice to see the result. I like the color choices, label placement and red cross, although it probably wouldn't have been my choice of bag to work with. Overall well done, thanks to Secret Forts for sharing the info.
