—01. New all instrumental album by The Roots.

Words

A number of blogs have mentioned the recent release from the legendary Roots crew as a tribute to Mr. James Yancy. The compliation of Jay Dee tracks have been played out by The Roots, lead by Questlove on the drums. The tracks have been giving a little bit of new life and they sound great all the way through. My only wish is that Black Thought might have laid down some lyrics, but there is still time to dream.

History by Mos Def & Talib Kweli

Mos Def and Talib Kweli have always been one of my favorite pairs in music. They've held their own in their solo careers but something special always comes out of these two sharing the mic. Mos Def has particularly been doing some really good work these days with his latest album, The Estatic, and his contributions to the Blakroc album. Besides that he seems to be steadily working alongside DJ Ski on the 24 Hour Karate School LP which I am quite excited about as well. The video for History was shoot by Coodie & Chike and it's an excellent display of how something great can be done for almost no cost. A simple concept, some great music and some nice treatment is all you need, plus a James Yancy beat, and you've got music magic. — "Taxi" is a snippet video from the upcoming 24 Hour Karate School.
