Bass for Opening Ceremony

Bass is well known in America for their loafers (Weejuns) and their saddle shoes. Now they have teamed up with Opening Ceremony to provide us with some classic looking loafers, saddle boots and an ankle boot. I called the comeback of the loafers and if this isn't one of North America's leading menswear lines, shops and showrooms stepping fully into the loafer world, I don't know what is. Teaming up with Bass is a great move to incorporate the American feeling while utilizing a decent manufacturer already making a nice product. The two tone brown loafer and the ankle boots are definitely my favorites, while I might personally steer clear of those saddle boots. Look for these to drop around the end of the summer.

Loafers; The '09 Shoe

This is my call right now. I'm sure there are a number of folks rocking them already, along with some of your dads - but that doesn't count. I think like the boat shoe and the oxford/wingtips came back strong in the past year, we will see a resurgence of the loafer in '09. They are grown up, clean, work with a lot and look better with age. Pretty much the same endearing qualities that made last years rival stories work. The loafer I think could be for those folks who don't want to wear boat shoes again this summer, because you know Urban Outfitters is going to have every color. I think a dark brown or black, with the little tassle on the top of the foot works best. There are a handful of versions that look nice and classic. I would just say keep it in leather rather than suede.
