On our recent trip to New York there were only a couple of items I had my mind set on. The first was some socks from Uniqlo and the second was the tailored down vest by Engineered Garments. I remembered liking it when we saw the collection last January, but it was quickly edited from our shop order. When they started popping back up in stores this fall I didn't want to miss out again. At first the brown color caught my eye, but the blue in person was too good. The cut of the vest is pretty nice and it feels great. It's a bit puffier than I had hoped so wearing it under a lightweight jacket isn't as good as I thought. Overall I'm quite happy with it though, and I don't have to worry about kicking myself in a few months.

I too was thinking about picking one of these vests up to layer under a bedford or cameraman jacket when the weather turns really cold. Are they too lofty or is it a question of the cut of your jackets? Do you wear them pretty clean and close?

I have to admit, I don't see why anyone wants to buy this vest, and at that price.. It looks like something a fat German tourist would wear. I've never understood the point with vests except with more formal clothing, are you cold on your body, but not your arms?

The fact that somebody would suggest this vest is ugly or vile would lead me to question their judgment in taste and aesthetic pretty quickly. Sure, maybe its not for everybody to buy and wear, but vile, nasty, ugly? You can't be serious.
