The American made bags from Altadena Works have received nice reviews in the last couple of years. Probably more known for their 70s trekking aesthetic, the brand also produce a range of high quality leather tote bags.

I bought an Altadena works daypack and it literally fell apart after about 2 hours. For real.

Yea, they certainly haven't been well-reviewed by me. The way the straps attach to the body of the bag itself is super faulty. Fine for a bit of light carrying here or there, but ultimately pretty weak.

We have since reinforced all straps with leather backing, so tearing does not happen.

We have now stopped using canvas due to the fact that there is no heavy duck canvas made in the U.S. anymore only India or China.

We have now made our own custom dyed Cordura ballistic fabric made in the U.S.

Currently we are trying to get our hands on a lightly waxed Japanese military duck canvas. Its been a long hard road to acquire but it looks like its going to happen summer 2013

Look for a Japanese canvas reissue soon!
