Words

January's Free & Easy has just been released and the theme of the latest edition is boots. It's a great issue, and a special one for myself and James as we were both asked to contribute. I was interviewed and James produced a series of portraits. You'll have to pick up a copy to see the former, but here's a selection of James' photographs. Thanks again to everyone who agreed to take part, and to Free & Easy for asking us to be involved.

JM... My jacket is the Engineered Garments Bird Shooter.

BP... Billy? Is that you? Very disrespectful!!

Who made the varsity?
December 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjer
Rolled up jeans/trousers----becoming a bit of a cliche.
December 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterPeter
Yes it is, you've seen the way I am treated, its only fair

Good stuff gents...nice to see so many familiar faces!

Ach, now I miss London...

i will buy issue if they ask all these people how long theyve been dressing this way.
December 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjaws
Hey Simon,
Got that issue in the post the other day and after looking threw it I was surprised these boots from Kapital where not mentioned at all. http://www.kapital.jp/e-store/zoom_img.php?p_item_key=1278
What are those Tricker's featured? Are they from Present?

all very interesting ... good

My favorite is the man with the tapered-the-fuck-out duck pants - what's the point? If you want to look stylish, duck pants aren't for you; loser. Simon actually looks quite suited to his style, and for the rest; well - let's just say they must take themselves entirely too seriously.

December 8, 2010 | Unregistered Commenternathan
Jer... Dai's varsity is made by Skookum.

BP... Fair point!

Wayne... The boots on my page are these...

Rich... That might be a challenge. Yuketen, Arrow or Russell Moccasin might be easier to track down.

Coombs stopped making boots a while back as far as I am aware. Duffer stocked them for a while, probably fifteen years ago now. Beautiful shoes, cool shoe box too. Desperately need a pair re-soled

God, the rolled pants have become a cliche. This is really the essence of group-think / dressed by the internet / uniform anti-individualism. Which is funny, given that I'm sure everyone here thinks they're quite the original.
December 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterZissou
I think they all look great.
December 8, 2010 | Unregistered Commentergjest
They do all look great, particularly the black guy on the top row. Anybody who thinks this look is getting tired needs to stick their head out of the blog bubble. In the real world only a handful of people are working this look. The High Street is trying to co-opt it but is doomed, by its nature, to move onto something else by the next season. Long live heritage.
December 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterChris
Some good 'looks'. If you take ten or so pictures of people who are into this type of gear, chances are quite a few will roll up their slacks. What's the problem?

...all things must pass...
December 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterPeter Parker
Don't get me started on the red knitted cap, Zissou.

And don't assume everyone reading this rolls their trousers up.
December 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSP
Can't agree more about the rolled pants. It's for people who cannot dress.
December 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJeePrayz
Not sure why everyone hates on rolled or cuffed trousers. It's been done for decades and is a very clean and practical look especially if you wearing boots or chukkas. I prefer it over an
ankle strangling style or a draping over the top of the shoe that was pretty big in the 90s. We should just stop the hate and participate!
