Our Legacy, Observations

01

—01. Spring-Summer 2011, Observations.

Words

The collections from Our Legacy continue to improve in pretty much every aspect each season. The fabric choices, the cuts, the fabric washes, etc, it goes on. The brand has developed great core pieces like their 40s BD shirt, the 'great' sweatshirt and their chinos - they've all become standard staples. This spring, I feel like the collection is as solid as ever, but their seasonal 'look book' is really what caught my eye. I think the tones and washed out whites combined with the rich blues and greens look especially great. They always do a fine job getting me excited about their brand.

The only shirts I buy now are Our Legacy - minimal shrinkage, lovely cut and a classic collar. Can't go wrong.

Our Legacy also makes some of the best and affordable chinos on the market. I've been wearing them for 2 years relentlessly and they keep getting better with age. Plus, being Swedish they understand how long to make an inseam.

Might struggle getting a good sound out of playing that record that way.

No wonder his pal looks perplexed.

What are the main differences between Our Legacy and APC ?
I've never actually worn Our Legacy clothes except some chino pants but It looks quite similar to me.

There is no difference between APC and Our Legacy, or Band of Outsiders or MHL or rogues gallery or visvim or kitsune or pat ervell or woolrich or gitman or engineered garments or .... They are ALL the same. Thats why we come here, to praise the mediocre and preserve the mundane!

There are differences: Band of Outsiders is overprices s*** for yuppies for example, APC is boring, while the other brands you mention I like.

@Yanni...I don't think any of the brands you listed are the same. There might be similarities beteween some of those brands, but they are hardly identical and a few of them aren't similar at all. Beyond the fact that they make men's clothing. Maybe you can shed some light on this?

Also, if you are unhappy with the content of this website, why do you visit? Surely you must have better things to do with your time.

I would agree those brands, except maybe one, are definitely an accurate grouping. As a wholesale buyer I can tell you consumers and retailers DO group them. The only thing that really differentiates them is branding but even that is fairly similar in its "Americana/ outdoorsy" proposition. I don't see the issue though. Its a trend and they are trend driven commercial designers. The only conundrum is whether they actually deserve that title "designer". By popular definition they do but me somewhat thinks not...anyway, great site. Thanks guys!
