Patagonia for Apolis

Clean and classic, Apolis have surprisingly teamed up with Patagonia to make a nice looking jacket this fall. It's lightweight and waterproof, and features a micro-fleece lining around the neck. Available in a classic black, a jacket like this is a simple necessity.

This was surprising at first, but after a second thought, it makes sense that Apolis would team up with Patagonia. Patagonia is one of the pioneers of responsible business, so it's nice to see them work with another company that gives a hoot.

I noticed that J. Crew is now selling a Patagonia item (albeit a kids' jacket) and it'll be interesting to see if Patagonia starts to become as ubiquitous as The North Face.

This looks like the spitting image of the torrentshell jkt we have in stock sans the apolis tag...and 30 bucks tacked on.

Yes - they took this jacket:

They then added their tag and made it seem as if the microfleece-lining was something additional. This is completely unoriginal.

Ulysses- absolutely right, even the little microfleece hit is the same in the original. I agree w/ Apolis in the fact that the jkt is perfect and doesnt need additions...I have three now from previous seasons (rain shadows) and the second I unpacked our delivery I knew this version was a major improvement in fit and I had to own it. That said, I expect a little more out of the piece if it really is a collab.

In our pursuit of the best product per category, we've carefully assembled brand partnerships to build the Apolis Uniform. Unlike our other collaborations, there haven't been any adjustments made to Patagonia's original design. Rather, we were looking for the best outerwear to stand up to the monsoon weather on our current Vietnam Expedition, and once we came across this outerwear piece we knew it was the perfect addition for the Apolis Uniform.

Why put your name on something that isn't yours? Seems like you just wanted to hop in bed with Patagonia any way possible. You might as well be wholesalers.

Or if you're going to put your name on it, at least make the whole enterprise a little more transparent.

The "Apolis Uniform" thing is misleading, mostly b/c no one expects a well-respected brand like Patagonia to be OK with other companies stitching tags to their products and reselling them (albeit with nice red thread!)

I like Apolis just fine, but this can in no way be called a "collaboration" with Patagonia...at least, no more than my blog could be called a collaboration with Sid Mashburn.
