Words

45rpm have just released the lookbook for their Fall–Winter collection and the first items from the season have already landed in their New York shops. This fall we see some very rich navy blues in different fabrics, combined with some bright pops of colour in the shirting and accessories. The brand continues to produce some of the finest garments around, accented beautifully by some of the best collection photography. It's hard to look through the images and not get a good feeling, both from the atmosphere and the look of the clothing. I particularly love the layering of multiple shades of blue in several of the outfits this season.

Want: 45rpm Organic Gauze Shirt

01

Images

Words

After receiving the SS10 Preivew lookbook by 45rpm in the mail, I was compelled to check out their modest online offering again. There was a shirt a couple seasons ago that I missed out on that was a patchwork red gingham, and I still think about it to this day - now I am thinking about this one. The cotton looks so soft, so comfortable and so perfect for summer. The colour, the pattern and styling are all just right, as usual from 45rpm.

45rpm Summer Look Book

01

—01. Great tones in the jacket.
—02. Definitely feels like summer is near.

Words

45rpm have updated their website with their summer look book. It’s filled with some beautiful photography and very happy looking people, as usual. It seems to be set in Hawaii, or a tropic location of some sort. The soft tones, simple trousers, shirts and light weight jackets look amazing. Even if you’re not going to buy anything from the brand, it’s worth browsing through just for the shots and potential inspiration for other items you might want to pick up.

45rpm Washable Turtleneck

Washable Knit Turtle Sweater1 Great turtleneck sweaters are few and far between in my opinion and if any brand was to get it right, it would be 45rpm. While S.N.S. Herning's Fisherman is as classic as you can get, and is my regular high neck pullover this winter, this low-gauge knit from 45rpm looks really beautiful. Known for their use of high quality cottons and hand crafted methods, the red version especially looks quite amazing as you can see the knit patterns through the shoulders, neck and cuffs. They are fairly subtle, but they are just right. The fitted wool sweater is also machine washable, which is kind of a nice feature - you just have to put it in a laundry bag. Surprisingly the price isn't out of reach at $387, which was nice after being quite sad about the Fair Isle cardigan. — Washable Knit Turtle Sweater2Washable Knit Turtle Sweater3Washable Knit Turtle Sweater4

45rpm Corduroy Pants

45rpm cords Corduroy pants our an office favorite right now since I've been working in a pair by EG and Owen recently acquired a lovely pair from Unis. The quest is never ending however as there are a few other key colours and cuts on the market. If you haven't found that perfect pair, or might be looking to find something a little more special, 45rpm have a couple of nice looking options. Offered in greys and blues, the medium wale cords come in a straight classic cut with your standard 5 pockets. As well, the flap thigh pocket version is a nice alternative and being more unique might make the step up to 45pm a little more worth while.

45rpm Bow Ties

45rpm-bow-tiesThe bow tie is definitely become apart of my fall attire this season and a nice variety of patterns are materials are a great option to have. My friend Wayne Pate send me a link to his choice for the season today. The 45rpm bow ties have a great casual shape to them with sort of round/flat ends and subtle patterns. The grey and tan colors are nice and muted and easy to throw on a plain or patterned shirt. I was a little skeptical of polka dots at first but the grey with off-white definitely have me reconsidering. Even when wearing a tie I want to keep it as casual as possible, so the soft looking wool material is perfect for me.

Chimala Par Avion Shirt

chimala-300x2991 Chimala is a brand we haven't really ever mentioned on the blog but not for any particular reason because they make top quality garments that fit well and look great. It's a splinter brand from 45rpm which explains the similar aesthetic and makes it a little easier to trust. It's also a little more accessible as I first saw it at Lark here in Vancouver.  While I've liked pretty much everything I've seen of the brand the Par Avion shirt is a personal favourite that connects with me. Very clean and utilitarian looking but with all the right details and impeccable construction. Made from heavy greyish/brown cotton twill the shirt is a little thicker and has a nice texture to it. The inner seams are finished with token orange tape stitch for a unique detail and the large square flap pockets without a button are something lacking in my closet. It might seem boring I suppose, seeing as it's just another greyish button down shirt, but Bart Simpson wears the same red tee and blue shorts every day and I always thought he looked cool...chimala1chimala2chimala3

Look | 100 Posts

century-look-siIn the grand scheme of things it's a fairly minor milestone but this is my 100th post. With that in mind, I thought I'd put together an outfit using some of the things I've written about over the last few months. Although some of them are no longer available, they should still provide plenty of inspiration. Looking back, there was any number of possibilities but I particularly like the way these items interact. There might be a variety of colours and textures involved but there's a simplicity about their combination. It's an outfit that very much reflects my own personal taste and in keeping with the overall tone of h(y)r, I've always written about things I love. I've tried to provide as much depth and personal insight as possible, focusing on things I have direct experience of or a genuine admiration for. I hope you've enjoyed my contributions so far. I really appreciate all the comments and encouragement, and I'd like to thank Ryan and Owen for asking me to be a part of what they've created.
