With an increasing number of stockists around the world, it's great to be able to visit some of the new shops that have embraced the magazine in-store. While in Florence we made time to visit the WP Store. The day after we arrived, Kenny Kusano from Beams had come into town to set up the Beams Plus FW10 window presentation. The timing was perfect for us and we were excited to see Inventory a part of the window. WP also had an extensive selection of Woolrich Woolen Mills as the company has licensed the brand around the world.

—01. Kelty for Beams Plus, Spring bags

Words

Beams Plus have been working with Kelty for a few seasons now. The partnership continues to result in nice looking functional products like these bags. Ideal for day trips and riding your bike around, they are small, simple and nicely designed. I particularly like the green and tan options myself.

Atlantic Works for Beams Plus

Words

Atlantic Works and Beams Plus seem to have formed a fairly strong relationship in the last few seasons as the footwear company has now made a handful of great looking shoes in collaboration with the Japanese retailer. These loafers are given a preppy twist by adding the red brick sole and pairing it with a white suede. It's usually a combination reserved for bucks, but in this case the result is a great summer shoe.

Beams Plus White Bucks

Words

While the white buck has seen a bit of a resurgence in the press over the last couple seasons, they are still actually a little difficult to track down this summer. I recently was trying to track down a short list of stockists for the classic model, but found only a couple shops stocking white bucks. Beams Plus are now the latest to team up with one of the factories in Northampton to create their own private line. The factory has mastered the art of Goodyear welted shoes and continue to provide the most flexible production and design schedule. Beams Plus slight twist on the spring essentials make them a little bit more casual with the red Dainite sole.

Baracuta for Beams Plus

Beams Plus x Baracuta-1 Long time collaborators Baracuta and Beams Plus have teamed up again this spring to release a pair of G9 models specially made for the Japanese brand. Both jackets come in a lighter weight cotton and are definitely ideal spring versions of the classic jacket. The black watch plaid definitely caught my eye at first, but the other jacket, which seems to be a sort of linen, also looks like it might be very good, and little bit more unique. Working with Baracuta allows you just enough freedom to put your stamp on their iconic outwear, but I like to think it's a product that would be hard to mess up.

Beams Spring–Summer Catalog

Beams SS10-4 The Beams collections have begun to release online with a handful of strong collaborations and pieces specifically from the Beams Plus collection. This seasons print catalog looks great again - from the styling to the photography every angle is covered and I'm happy to give you a glimpse into some of my favorite spreads. These looks include a mixture of Beams Plus pieces and other items from their shops. I really love the style, the colour palette and feel of the photos. We'll be showing you the Beams Plus collection and a couple collaborations later in the week as well. — Beams SS10-0Beams SS10-5Beams SS10-2

Engineered Garments Ashfield Jacket

ENGINEERED GARMENTS-BEAMS PLUS ASHFIELD JACKET 2 Last fall Engineered Garments made up their version of a safari jacket exclusively for Beams Plus after Kenichi Kusano, the director, had become interested in the aesthetic and found a vintage piece to send Daiki. The tale has it that Mr. Suzuki isn't a big fan of some of the original details like epaulets and some of the things that make it more of a safari jacket. Thus, the Ashfield was born in its current state and has now been made available on the Beams website. The khaki twill cotton is really the perfect fabric for the jacket and I was excited to find my size last fall when we visited the Beams Plus shops. The jacket has been featured in our last online issue as well as the Beams catalog where you can see how it can look quite nice for daily wear. If you don't manage to pick it up this spring from Japan, the model will be available next fall in some other nice fabric options and colors – we are looking forward to getting our hands on it in a few months. — ENGINEERED GARMENTS-BEAMS PLUS ASHFIELD JACKET 3ENGINEERED GARMENTS-BEAMS PLUS ASHFIELD JACKET 1

Alden for Beams Plus Long Wings

Alden×BEAMS PLUS 01 Alden and Beams just may have invented the process of collaboration as we know it today... Well maybe not quite, but the two well known companies have been working together for nearly 30 years creating an endless supply and variety of special make ups. Beams Plus in particular have taken advantage of Alden's custom abilities and have created some of the nicest models from Alden that we've never seen. At first glance, the latest pair of long wings appear to be quite simple, but by using a softer black leather calfskin and adding the black metal eyelets, it gives the shoe a more casual and sporty feel that I find especially appealing. I'm not one to dress up too formally very often, so when it comes to wearing a black pair of brogues there aren't a lot of options that grab my attention. The soft leather is likely going to break in quickly and beautifully to give a more pairing to denim in my opinion. In addition to the nice eyelet choice, I would love to see this model come with a natural coloured sole perhaps. It might sound odd, but I feel like the soft black could be nicely contrasted by the natural colour of a leather sole. The tonal choice by Beams + is far from bad as this is another pair of long wings I'd love to add to the arsenal. — Alden×BEAMS PLUS 02Alden×BEAMS PLUS 03Alden×BEAMS PLUS 04
