Buzz Rickson Zip-Front Sweatshirt

One of Buzz Rickson's marquee pieces is the loop wheeled sweatshirts they produce. The fabric is loomed on original 1920s loop wheel machines and while the 1930s-1940s crew neck style might be more traditional, I am partial to the zip-front hooded version in navy.

I like a wide leg chino and I love a cinch back, so no surprise I like these pants. They actually came out a few months ago, but have been re-released on the Beams x Fennica shop, and are also carried at kapok. I really like the cut of the pants, along with the simple officer style button fly, pockets and cinch back. You really can't go too wrong with these.

Buzz Rickson Chambray

Buzz Rickson chambray work shirt 01 When it comes to classic reproduction pieces made in Japan, Buzz Rickson is one of the first names that comes to mind. This tribute to one of the most praised, worn and loved shirts is just another great version by another good company. If you're into the longer collar then this lightweight Japanese chambray version might just be for you. I know some people are quite biased whether they go for something more subtle by EG, or a piece like this with perhaps more accurate references to the original. Either way, it looks very nice and works with many outfits. The pocketing, gussets and tonal buttons all look sharp and I particularly love the tags and stamps on the inside of the garment to top it off. For $150, it's one of the best work shirt deals out there and it's available at Blue in Green. Buzz Rickson chambray work shirt 02Buzz Rickson chambray work shirt 03

Buzz Rickson Preview

I'm not about to claim I'm Buzz Rickson head by any means, but the stuff looks pretty great. Kiya of Self Edge has definitely been my introduction to the repo man, as well as being the true purveyor of Japanese cool stuff for the last few years. I am really impressed with all of the co-branded items that Self Edge has had their hands in this past year as well. They have really stepped up the hands on approach of an independent boutique. Anyways, Buzz Rickson is great looking, well manufactured, classic and cool. From the loop-wheeled crew necks that just arrived at Self Edge, to these beautiful leather derbies, it's all picked by an amazing eye and reproduced to the highest qualities. Of course that translates to high prices, but you probably can't find anything like this from another label. I'm also a bit fan of the pea coat and what appears to be some chinos. Hopefully coming to Self Edge soon.
