Comme des Garçons Wallets

01

Words

Surprisingly there still aren't that many great wallets out there. The one that seems to be carried by many shops, sold by many shops and used by a few people I know is by Comme des Garçons. Their classic half-zip version, among others, has been given a slight upgrade in leather this season. The brown and burgundy are definitely my favorites of the group.

Comme des Garcons Homme Chinos

CDG Homme chinos 01 We've seen some really nice spreads from a number of publications featuring fall looks from Comme des Garcons this fall. Some better than others, the products have kept the spotlight overall, but again it's the simple basics that caught my eye. These CDG Homme chinos have a really nice full cut through the leg which I'm becoming more and more accustom to. It fits well and proper with the Americana aesthetic. The wider leg still hasn't caught on with many North American consumers, but it has struck a chord with the Japanese and the devoted work wear enthusiasts in Europe. I really like the button detailing on this pair of pants through the waist band and pockets. There are a lot, without going over the top – they've remained functional and it came out great. Comme des Garcons SHIRT Duffle Coat

comme-des-garcons-shirt-duffel-coat-1 When it comes to updating a classic, Comme des Garcons has to be one of the names that come to mind. The SHIRT collection always has some items I personally like and this fall's down version of the duffle coat is looking rather good. CDG haven't done a whole lot to the winter staple other than change the fabric, and that's all they needed to do. While I will always adore the wool version, sometimes something a little more light weight and rain resistant is necessary. It has a nice slim fit and the olive color is my favorite of the two. The jacket also isn't too brutal on the wallet at $370 before the 20% EU discount. comme-des-garcons-shirt-duffel-coat-2

Dover Street Market Waxed Twill Jacket

dsmcdg-waxed-twill-jkThis season we saw Dover Street Market release a small collection of clothing in the shop’s name. It was an interesting move to me as they could have just as easily made the items within one of the several Comme des Garcons lines - but nope, a new label needed to facilitate it. Though there's some nice looking shirting in the forefront of the release, this waxed twill jacket is definitely my favorite so far. The motor jacket aesthetic is one I’ve always been a fan of and DSM have done a fine job with the simple detailing, nice material choice and button closure pockets. Surprisingly, this piece is actually available at End, online as well is in their brand new physical location, which looks very nice. The jacket has a light shell, detatchable belt and is apparently ‘highly limited’ so don’t waste your time elsewhere.

Comme des Garcons SHIRT Chinos

cdg-chino1Although the name might sound a little confusing, the chino pants are pretty straight forward. I'm actually not 100% on what market the SHIRT line is supposed to reach, but I'm in it. One of my favorite items in my closet is a CDG SHIRT wool blazer from the fall and these chinos are definitely among my favorites this spring. I really love the pop blue and subtle contrast in the light colored buttons. The fit also appears to be perfect on these pants, which as I've mentioned time and time again, is hard to find in a great chino. While the price tag of $297 isn't on the low side, luckily they are available at Tres Bien and us North Americans can't get enough of that lovely Swedish VAT - 25% off. cdg-chino2

Comme des Garcons Homme Blazer

While finding great, wearable items from Comme des Garcons still seems to be a tricky adventure for me, it seems there is another gem in the Homme collection. CDG seems to have a lot of different avenues to create between the SHIRT line, PLAY, Junya Watanabe and Homme, but still I find it tough to really find that piece that I really fall in love with. This blazer definitely appears it could be one of those. The soft tonal piping around the trim and on the wrists is a nice enough touch without taking away from the perfectly placed pockets. I really do love the exterior pockets combined with a small lapel. It is the best way for a blazer to remain casual enough for everyday wear by somebody like myself. This blazer apparently is reversible as well, but unless I was going as the Fresh Prince to a party, I would probably keep on this side.

Secret Society, Norway

I was recently contacted by somebody out in Olso, Norway who said they had an agency. Now it sounded a bit vague at first, no offence, but after a quickly replied email, I found out a bit more. It turns out that that their agency, Blender, distributes some of the best brands to folks in the Scandinavian area. Also they have their own store called Secret Society. I went to the blog for the store and found pretty close to a dream stock list. Visvim, Margiela, Common Projects, Arne and Carlos, N(N)ine, Junya Wantanabe, Comme des Garcons and more. The tiny picture of the store looks nice but it's hard to get a good look. Anyways not that there are hundreds or thousands of readers living in Oslo that don't know about the shop. But for the rest of us, it is definitely another spot worth checking if there is a CDG Man piece or perhaps a pair of Visvim Shaman FBT's I've you've been looking for.
