Neighborhood for Converse 1970s All-Star Chuck Taylor

01

—01. Released today.

Words

The Converse 1970s Chuck Taylor releases have been quick to sell, and for good reason. But I would expect this collaboration with Neighborhood to sell especially fast. The all white sole paired with blue suede and a subtle woven heel detail make for a good-looking, easy to wear shoe.

The Converse Addict range returns this fall with three versions of the hi-top Chuck Taylor, the most interesting of which is the navy canvas option with white stars.

Converse CT 1970 Ox True Navy

Words

The latest, and arguably the best, release from the Converse 1970s range is now available. The low top Chuck Taylor comes in a True Navy colourway, which would look great with denim, chinos and even wool trousers, come fall.

Words

The Nigel Cabourn x Converse CT Plimsole is a great addition to the classic sneaker market. The colour choices and clean design are outstanding. The 'egg nog' colour way is my favourite and the contrasting piping is a really nice touch.

Words

Through Margaret Howell's MHL collection, the brand continues their work with Converse. This spring they released three colours in the classic All-Star model, but the re-arrival of the simple, paired down, Jack Purcell looks especially nice.

Words

The Converse 1970s First String range has proved to be quite a success so far, selling out quickly around the world. The latest drop includes the low All-Star's in crimson, while my preference is the hi-top in sunflower.

Converse by Inventory – One Star Academy

—01. A First String Release.

Words

When the opportunity arose to work with Converse this was the only shoe I wanted to make: a longtime favourite, and a classic that has scarcely been available in years. Launched as the Suede All Star in the early 1970s, this model is often referred to as the Jack Star, and although it's made sporadic appearances in the Converse catalogue since, it has always been overshadowed by the Chuck Taylor, the Jack Purcell, and the original One Star. In my mind however, the small details – the absence of pinstriping on the midsole and the bars bookending the star on the upper – have always made this style as iconic as the others. Recently elements of the under-appreciated model formed the basis for Anthony Pappalardo's signature skate shoe, but after parting ways with Converse that seems destined for obscurity too. Now dubbed the One Star Academy, this version, produced exclusively for Inventory, is a leather-lined, tonal suede interpretation of the original with a white debossed license plate. Limited numbers of both colours are now in stock at our New York and Vancouver stores, as well as online.
