Words

It feels like fall when I see socks like these starting to hit the shelves. What else do you need when it gets cold? Some nice Japanese cotton socks with a great color palette and nice design is definitely a good start. Sure, you might want some boots, a new pair of jeans and a nice sweat shirt - but then, its socks.

Haversack Spring

haversack-ss09-1Haversack is one of the more interesting brands to be hitting in both the Japanese market and the European market, yet there is no sign yet in North America. We heard it was going to be showing up at Opening Ceremony, but this has yet to be confirmed. The price tags on the collection are definitely high, but they come hand in hand with some high quality, great cottons, nice detailing and an overall great look. Without much surprise, some of the inspiration comes from hunting, fishing and military references in the materials, details and cuts. I'm personally a big fan of the shawl cardigan and sand colored shirt. Now available at Oki-ni haversack-ss09-2

Sierra Designs Vintage Parka

I saw this Sierra Designs parka over at A Continuous Lean today and pretty much am in love. Between the plaid lining, the navy color, perfect pockets and soft lighting and white background, I need this coat - or at least one really close to it. I have obviously been speaking on several parks in the last month or two and probably the nicest ones that released this winter were definitely modeled after this (by Haversack and HP+ and Traverse). It was mentioned that Engineered Garments had a similar one as well but I never came across it so I can't really comment. I do think Supreme's mountain parka is another good choice. Anyways, back to this Sierra Designs piece. It's great, it's what the rest are modeled after and if you can track one of these down, you're a lucky guy. Let the eBaying begin...

Haversack Organic Flannel

Without knowing the fit of this shirt, I'd say it looks perfect. Organic cotton flannel with a stand collar and the looking uneven work wear pockets. The shape detail of the bottom of the shirt is nice as a subtle touch as well. The high scalloping and gussets give it a really natural look. I could probably wear this shirt 4-5 days a week at this point. I have a similar style Rag & Bone piece, but it's a thin cotton. This shirt looks so soft and is probably a bit warmer. Unfortunately Haversack still isn't well distributed in the western world so you'll need a Japanese connection for this one. Or if you can read Japanese you can scoop it here for about $150 US.
