Preview: Mismo Ruck sack

Words

Mismo might not be known for their back packs but it seems more and more luggage collections are trying their hand at the rugged looking ruck sack. Mismo presented their version recently which will be available in their SS11 collection next year. The clean design and high quality materials are no surprise. The interesting hardware and subtle design features make it a definite standout, but you'll have to wait a few months to check them out.

Mismo Billfold

Mismo have been impressing us with their bags for a number of seasons now, but last time I viewed the collection I was really into the small leather pieces like these wallets. Mismo's card holders and billfolds are definitely in a lower price bracket but still look quite refined.

Mismo Shoppers

Mismo Shoppers Since we first discovered Mismo, we've become big fans of the Scandinavian luggage brand. First from an admiration stand point, but definitely more so once we put the products to the daily test. The travel duffle has done well through several overseas hauls, but it's the Shopper that continues to get use. Since I generously received one, it's been on of the nicest canvas bags I've used. The design, functionality, size and finishing have yet to be topped. A couple of my friends are now toting the shopper around with them and with a perfect variety of colours available, they are a sharp professional option that softens up and looks better with use.

Mismo Document Bag

mismo-document-bagI'm pretty much never a fan of brief case style bags but for the first time I'm feeling into one. Mismo have a number of new products on their way in the coming months and their take on a daily functional bag for work is probably the best I've seen. I'm quite sure it's the larger pouch pockets that feel more militant that most brief cases I've seen. Sure, it may be on the verge of being classified as a brief case, but it works and functions just like one - but looks much better. The detachable shoulder strap, insider laptop compartment and spot for your cell phone are all handy as the folks at Mismo leave no stone unturned. Their design process is very well considered and the result is a display of their relentless desire to make the best possible product. ms-work_interior_army_lowms-work_front_midnight_low

If You're Buying...

parisshowroom...and in Paris, you should probably stop by this little concept showroom that will be open for the month of March - and spend the rest of your money. SNS Herning, Gitman Bros. and Mismo have come together to show their fall collections for the remainder of the buying season. Each of these brands are highly specialized and do their own product extremely well. I hope a concept for a showroom like this can work because I really like the idea of presenting the different elements of a wardrobe with a more cohesive feeling, rather than the 'this or that' you find in a lot of tradeshows and showrooms. With great sweaters, beautiful bags and perfect oxford shirts, it would seem there is room for footwear, a trouser and possibly some outerwear to join the ranks. I can think of a couple labels I'd like to see beside these brands, hopefully our market will be able to support good ideas and products.

Walk Off Pt. II

look-2-spring-bluesNow, please don't get too mad at my outfit this time...But round 2 of the Walk Off series is now up on Blacklodges. This time Mr. Vogel was just facilitating the battle as I took on Nick and Chris Schonberger. The east coast brothers seem to be bracing for cold weather, hunting large animals, rain (at the strip club) and some basketball. Blue seems to be the color of spring 09 so I went with a lot of different blues for my look. I think it's still an extremely easy to wear composition that would do well anytime, anywhere. Of course the chinos would be rolled and the comfort level would be high. I had to include a couple of my favorite items that got blogged in the last week as well since they've stayed on my mind. That cardigan is killing me though. For the price I know I couldn't even get it for 50% probably, but the suede bucks are in stock in my size, for a more manageable price... Issue 10 Preview

Well we are about to hit the double digits for our monthly issues. It's both big and seemingly small in perspective. Only 10? Really? That's nothing vs. That's right, 10 great issues covering the menswear market unlike any magazine, printed or online. I feel like things have developed in the direction I wanted so far which is a great feeling. A lot more in the pipeline and well we are still pretty new, I am very pleased to be able to deliver some pretty interesting editorial content on a regular basis. Of course without you readers it wouldn't be possible, so I'll be thanking you for a long time. Okay, issue 10. We have the full Common Projects spring/summer collection to show you, we spoke to new designer of the year nominees Shipley & Halmos, we got behind the Italian canvas for a deep look at Mismo and their bag collection. We also let our love for sneakers sneak back out with a pretty interesting interview with Eddie Cruz and James Bond in correlation with the latest collaboration with Puma. There are a couple more gems in the issue including a Canadian history lesson so stay tuned for the release next week. Also, I know there are a lot of new readers, so catch up and read Issue No. 9 before it vanishes into our labyrinth of unorganized archives.
