Although I'm not the greatest runner myself, I am drawn to the Gyakusou collection each season. This fall appears to be one of the best from the preview that Firmament are giving us as well. The 'Running Monks' video was also really nicely done. The use of greys, oranges and different shades of blues all mix nicely. There's a good chance I'll pick up a couple pieces this season, unfortunately not in time for my first half-marathon this weekend, which it obviously would have made me run much faster for had I been decked from head to toe in multiple layers, zip off sleeves and a couple dozen bonded hidden pockets.

Available soon at Firmament

Nike Lunarglide+ 3

01

Info

—01. Anthracite/Chilling Red-Black-Volt.

Words

Once Nike previewed the new Lunarglide+ I knew I was going to pick up a pair. The only problem was that the girls colors were a bit better than the guys and Niketown in New York was completely sold out in my size, in mens and womens. Fortunately the demand at home isn't quite as high, so I was able to pick up a pair the other day. After a few days of wearing them, I'm still blown away at how comfortable they are each time I put them on. They feel great, look really nice and as silly as it sounds, having a great product like this can actually be motivation to get out and pound the streets.

Nike Lunar Vengeance Terra+

Words

Somewhat on the opposite side of the Nike's I posted last week, these ACG Terra+ trainers look great also. I like the off-white/bone color and the ACG color touches, shape and fabric all blend nicely. I'm also a bit of a sucker for a speckled Nike mid-sole, accented nicely by the orange hits. These seem to be popping up in a few European retailers, definitely a nice trainer for the summer.

Nike Match Classic

Words

Come spring time, you definitely need a couple pairs of trainers to beat up for a few months. A nice white or off-white canvas or suede is usually the best looking and these Nike Match Classics definitely fit the bill. Subtle branding on a classic model, good color choice and a nice silhouette - pretty much perfect.

Words

It doesn't get too much more classic than white canvas sneakers. Several of Nike's ankle cut shoes have been a little too padded for me to wear, but with the subtle tonal branding and the clean white canvas, these are a pretty nice blank canvas for a summer beating.

Nike Lunar Mariah

Nike Lunar Mariah I've gotten to the point where my Nike Moire+ trainers are on the verge of coming apart after a few years of pretty regular wear. They've been some of the most comfortable shoes I've ran, walked or lounged in and I don't want them to be unwearable, so I need a new trainer to take on most of the heavy use. I am still on the hunt for a pair of the Nike LunarWood shoes as they ACG action is appealing, along with the general look of the shoe. I'm pretty set on the Lunar model at this point as it's a shoe I can wear running, to the football pitch or with some fatigue pants and a chambray. While I don't think I'd probably make these Lunar Mariah's my first choice, I do like the overall look and the fact that Tres Bien Shop have brought them in. The element of "street wear" has definitely been treated in a more respectful and mature manner in Scandinavia it feels like. Brands like Wood Wood and shops like Tres Bien do a nice job and mixing these casual sneakers and colours with a more refined aesthetic.

WANT: Nike LunarWood TZ

Nike LunaWood The Nike Lunar has been in the corner of my mind over the last few months. I know I like the shoe, the shape and feel, the way they look on foot. I often like the idea of mixing a technical trainer into an outfit that might not usually have that aesthetic mixed in. Wether its a Footscape or the Moire+, they can look great with some fatigue pants, a chambray and a down vest - for example. I think when it comes to this sort of look, the latest collaboration by Wood Wood really hits the nail on the head. The LunarWood TZ was done with Nike's progressive Sportswear collection and took the Lunar up a notch by adding some tough technical aspects and the ACG stamp. I think the colors and look of this shoe came out really well, and while I might not love the "WW" on the left heel, there is too much good going on here to let it bother me. I'm probably going to try to get a pair of these trainers over the coming months. I'm not sure what retail will be like, but I'm hoping not too bad. — Besides the great product itself, BeingHunted have put together a nice feature on the project and it includes a short Q&A with the folks from Wood Wood. It's worth a read and definitely worth a look at the images - both product shots and look book.

Nike Match Classic HF

Nike Match Classic HF 1 Hiroshi Fujiwara seems to be a natural word to associate with a good looking Nike shoe these days. His simple use of color and choice  of models that haven't had much impact in the recent past are more often than not winners. The Match Classics definitely hit my sneaker soft spot when I saw these in person recently. The small check, clean lines and nice suede all look just right. I really like the shape of this shoe, especially on the toe box area. They are definitely an easy sneaker to wear a few times a week and the brown or black suede would hold up in this wintery weather pretty well. Even the red could look nice after a little beating. I'm personally a fan of the vintage models and the cheap flimsy tongues especially. They feel good and look natural, not a whole lot else to say – I would probably go with the brown pair myself. — Nike Match Classic HF 2
