There is such an abundance of white canvas sneakers available that unless you’re absolutely committed to wearing one style, choosing between them is very difficult. I've seen an array of Spalwart footwear as the brand's profile has risen over the last few seasons, but I don’t often come across this straightforward monochromatic mid model. Now that they’re firmly in my mind, it would be hard for me to consider other options as this pair offers everything one might want, right down to being produced with the original 1950s moulds and machinery.

The burgeoning London-based menswear shop, Several, has started to receive their first Spring-Summer deliveries. They’ve added a range of items from the Finnish brand Marimekko to their offering, of which the Jokapoika shirt is a standout, with its simple spread collar and mid-gauge stripe pattern. Another recent highlight easily paired with it is the outstanding monochromatic Spalwart Special Low, based on military athletic shoes from the 1950s.

The selection of premium sneakers available these days is quite extensive. There's a lot to choose from, but Swedish brand Spalwart stands out because their products possess an authentic, vintage look and a rugged beauty all of their own. The Marathon Trail, inspired by a '70s fell running shoe, is a really attractive model that looks great in this dark colourway.
