Look: Short Sleeves & Shorts

01

Words

The weather has been great the last couple of weeks, yet the shorts have only come out once so far. The real summer heat is only around the corner and I am personally after a pair of the EG fatigue shorts for the rest of the season. The MHL short sleeve work shirt is a great summer choice and you always need a pop of color, supplied by the Sperry Top-Siders this time around.

Sperry Fall/Winter

sperry-fallSperry seems to be picking up the slack on their in house line and taking some cues from their consistent collaboration with Band of Outsiders. For fall they will be introducing this great looking mid top deck boot. These are some of the brighter colors that will be available while BoO will be offering the same model in grey wool this coming fall which looked great. I am really liking the look of the new model myself. I think it will lend itself to a lot of nice looks while offering something a bit different. Sperry hasn't tried to do too much yet which could easily happen, and has in our market. The loafers and wool low tops are also welcome models for the classic brand. You can be these will be fairly affordable as well which is a nice change from a lot of the footwear I usually want, I just hope that it won't all be available at every UO. The images are strigth from Compass which is wrapping up today. Check WATM for a couple more looks at the show. sperry-fall-2

Compass Show

compasThe Compass show is getting ready for it's second event in Las Vegas on February 12-13. The show, run by the BMPW crew, has stepped up the brand list this time around with some nice additions and some solid returning brands. To be honest I wasn't really sure who the even was really supposed to benefit back when it first launched, but as I've seen more and learned more - some directional help is definitely a good thing. Although a lot of you and myself probably have written out a dream brand list for if we started a store and know exactly what we'd order, there are a lot of shops, big and small and brands, big and small. There are also a lot of people who need help figuring out what to buy, and designers often can use the feedback on what sells. So Compass has become a good meeting ground for the different sides and outlets to come together and move forward together. It's interesting to see some of the old brands like Redwing and Sperry alongside collections from Alife, YMC and even Rachel Comey.
