Swimsuit Department has become one of our favourite blogs and online shops for interesting vintage finds. Based in Tokyo, Takahiro Gouko used to work for United Arrows and Landscape Products before launching his own venture. Lifecycling has just published an interview to accompany Megumi Seki's photographs of his home.

I'm honestly not sure how you'd even begin to pull off this particular look, but regardless: this USN hat really is a thing of beauty. The colour, the fabric, the stitching – it's got to be worth hanging off of a hook at the very least. Follow the link below for larger imagery and more details.

A few weeks ago I picked up a hat of similar shape, under the pretense of a gift for the wife, and I've been wearing it pretty regularly ever since. Mostly around the house. As is the case with a lot of these things: once you've seen something and decided you actually quite like it, you can't help from seeing other tempting examples everywhere. I spied this olive and orange vintage US Army Hat over at Swimsuit Department a little while back, and am now eager to try and find something similar for myself. For hook or head; it's definitely a keeper.

This 1976 edition of the once popular, and perhaps subculture defining, publication has frequently appeared in front of me at various times, and in various places, throughout the last year. Most notably during our trip to Tokyo at the tail end of 2011, where if it wasn't being spotted in the locked cabinet of a bookstore, it was on the desk during a meeting, or in someones personal collection at home; being used for both inspiration and reference. During the course of my limited viewings, it's been easy to see why the magazine has been so highly sought after, and so extremely influential to those that own it. It would also appear that the near-constant haunting of it's influence will no longer be limited to the real world either: this week it was featured on Swimsuit Department, as part of their 'Lucky Wednesday' discovery.
