Words

d.a. levy was an underground poet, publisher and printer, and one of the instigators of the 1960s ‘mimeograph revolution’ whose life ended too early at the age of 26 in 1968. Jon Beacham, of The Brother in Elysium imprint, seems to have taken over the mantle of champion for the generally overlooked late poet’s work. This volume, which is hand set and letterpress printed by Beacham in a limited run of 250 copies, collects a number of levy's poems and a selection of his concrete works from the rare publication, Scarab, issued by the poet’s own 7 Flowers Press in 1966. It also includes an accompanying essay evaluating his role in the 1960s small press poetry scene.
