CPO shirts are one of the best pieces to have around. They're warm, they look good and they can work well for about 3/4 of the year. Engineered Garments make my favorite version, but this fall The Real McCoy's made a great reproduction. With heavyweight wool, a nicely sized collar and pocket, it stays very true to the original, which is just what you want with an item like this.

Yeah - that kind of is a glaring mistake.

Do you guys think that both The Real McCoy's and Buzz Rickson's would make a CPO shirt with one pocket if it didn't exist at one point?

The first version of the CPO shirt only had a single pocket when it was introduced.

I am also confused about why people think they know more about militaria offhand than a repro company.

Also I think that's a Ulysses impostor. That sentence is structured way too poorly to be his.

From the History Preservation website:

"The style evolved over the years, eventually having two breast pockets both with open tops and with pocket flaps, but the 1st version is immediately identifiable by the single breast pocket with scalloped pocket flap."

Damn, do a little homework, even if it's on a retail site.

I love these shirts, but I've reached a point of frustration in finding shirts that ACTUALLY fit my 6'2" slender self. Just found a brand called Longshot Apparel, it looks like they only sell online, but for others who are similarly frustrated check it out www.longshotapparel.com

There's possible to find real Naval Clothing Factory made C.P.O. Shirts from at least pre 1947 with two pockets. To identify the age of a C.P.O. Shirt, check the shape of the anchors on the inner tag/patch.
