It's those simple items that have the most wear-ability, easily interchangeable between any outfit in any season. The Skagway Estlin is that shoe for me. It's accessible and it's not overly detailed. I appreciate the classic model made well and Visvim produces a great version here.

Although I appreciate the design & quality of the 2 models of Skagways, the price tag will surely be out of my range and make converse chucks or purcells my go to in vulcanized classic sneakers. With my trusty Air Max 1s on deck to help change things up.

Every post on a Visvim product = In excess of 9000 Visvim is overpriced whiners.

I've bought Yuketen boots that were priced at $500 and didn't blink an eye. But Visvim products are a bit over priced when you can buy products of equal or better quality for either the same price or less.

So Uncle Jimbo, I'm not whining cuz I can definitely afford Visvim, but just choose not to buy it due to it being over priced.

1 thing I see happening with Visvim buyers is that after they wear the item, they end up reselling it. 70% of Visvim items could not be considered classic, staple pieces since they end up being re-sold instead of maintaining a spot in closets & drawers.

it's probably because it's actually overpriced

Yeah, I like visvim products as much as anyone else, but they price their stuff double of what it should cost. They should consider if their market should only be the extremely wealthy.

I agree 100% Sorrybut & Ri.

@ 2D...spot on mate.

like you, i also bought a pair of yuketen boots. i have no problm paying for quality that will last. visvim simply isn't worth the money.

Purely adolescent fare. Can we get some candid writing on Dieter Rams instead? I'm dying to hear how you discovered him!

Is it just me or does these shoes look cheap? Would anyone buy them if they weren't Visvim, and they only cost $75 ?
(not disputing the quality etc.)

I wonder if Visvim actually sells that much...
January 12, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSorrybut
it's true they look like something a bit eurotrash that you would find in a mall

These sneakers are one of visvim's nicest products. The white sole contrasted with the black canvas and leather uppers looks particularly nice, making these an affordable and wearable staple you can wear all-year round.

Uncle Jimbo likes the black and white ones.

Uncle Jimbo : same goes with tons of black and White sneakers that don't make you go bankrupt.

I agree with SorryBut. These aren't any better than any other Black/White basic sneaker out there. I could buy 8 pairs of purcells. 8 pairs of Nike blazer/all courts. Or splurge on some Clot Converse and I would still end up on top.

For some reason, these look really heavy for vulcanized sneakers. the mid-soles look extra chunky....maybe that's why Visvim think that they can charge more.

Do any of you actually work in the apparel industry? Do any of you even know what it takes to produce a product.?

My guess is, no.

Visvim produces some of the highest quality products on the market, from incredibly sourced materials. If you knew what went into getting the end result of a shoe, shirt, jacket etc you'd understand their construction, quality and attention to detail - you'd also have an idea of their margin... and well, if you don't know what margin is/how it relates to clothing, you're way off.

Visvim products are worth the coin.

John. My beef is not with the price, but the design. These particular shoes look "cheap" in lack of a better word.

is it overpriced? yes.
is it quality? yes.

i own a pair of this fall's serra boots and the leather and construction are seriously amazing. (they're too small tho so i never get to wear them... anybody want a size 8?) i also own a pair of yuketen maine guide boots and i would say the exact same thing about them as well. i would guess that yuk's are much more "reasonably" priced than visvim's but when you're already dropping 600 on kicks i think u've already decided price isn't that much of an issue anymore.

now as far as these skagways, i've seen them in person and they don't look cheap like a lot of ppl are saying. the leather's nice and the canvas is definitely high grade. now, is it worth close to $400? can't say, but it's most def a top quality sneaker.
