South 2 West 8 is probably my second favorite Nepenthes production and they've recently updated their website with some photos of their shop in Sapporo. Unfortunately, for most of us visiting Japan, Hokkaido isn't usually on the itinerary. The shop is a bit off the beaten tourist path when it comes to shopping, but it appears it might be worth the effort. Taking the hunting lodge theme to the extreme, the space is filled with all sorts of bits and pieces, as well as loads of great looking product. Nepenthes always do an amazing job with their retail spaces and this shop is no exception.

Joe McCoy 8 Hour Union Shirt

One of the most classic and consistently popular shirts gets another interpretation this summer. Joe McCoy - a collection produced by The Real McCoy's - offers a black chambray version of their 8 Hour Union shirt and a recent delivery at Superdenim included limited numbers of these. The Japanese company makes some of the best garments we've come across and their work shirts, along with their sweats and chinos, are always a great example of this.

Nigel Cabourn is definitely one of our favorite brands, and one of our favorite people. He's the type of character you never forget meeting. He's always got a story, and whether it's about a past collection or how he achieved the vintage wash on his summer suit, they're always entertaining. Joachim Baan from Anothersomething and Journal de Nimes recently had the chance to stay with him in Newcastle, find out more about his collection for SS11 and take some photos of Nigel in his natural habitat.

While the Makr brand has been slowly diversifying in the last couple of years, they are creating a lot more than wallets these days. Aside from the nice canvas bags, Jason has been working on their first piece of furniture: the Makr Studio Stool. The design has just been finalized and the results are beautiful. Clean and simple, yet sturdy and ready for years of good use, it comes in polished steel or flat black. The seat is a butternut wood and compliments the metal perfectly. Prices range from $375 to $550 depending on the finish and whether or not you require a back.

In Stock: Les Cahiers Purple

I first heard about Les Cahiers Purple through Simon a few months ago, and since then I've been trying to locate a copy for myself. The collection of short articles, stories, illustrations and photographs put together by the folks behind Purple magazine is another lovely little print gem. Well, maybe not so little. It's nearly 300 pages long, printed on an off-white/grey stock with all black and white photography. It comes in English and French, and we were lucky enough to find some of the last copies of issue Number 1 in English.

Woolrich Woolen Mills Explorer Hat

The bucket hat by Woolen Mills is one of the best out there. The shape and size make it easy to wear and they always offer a great variety of fabrics and colours. One of the more interesting versions this spring had slipped under my radar until the recent update by Tres Bien. The floral pattern is subtle enough to wear, and colourful enough to be ideal for the summer.

While spending a little over a week in London, we ran around a lot of the city, had several meetings and appointments and tried to fit in as much of the World Cup as possible. This definitely called for a few cups of coffee along the way. London has a very solid offering on the cafe front, especially in the East End. One of the most convenient and best cups however came from Present. For those who haven't visited the London shop, they have a small set up at the front of the store, which happens to be run by Gwilym Davies, 2009's world barista champion.

Visvim Virgil Moc Toe

The Virgil boot is arguably the best piece of footwear that Visvim have produced in the last decade, but they are often only available at FIL stores. Fortunately these new Moc Toe versions are being offered through Visvim's interesting online retail set up. The boots come in four different colours, have custom Vibram outsoles, and feature hand-sewn uppers and Goodyear welting; they're so supple that socks are not recommended.
