The Real McCoy's CPO Shirt

Words

CPO shirts are one of the best pieces to have around. They're warm, they look good and they can work well for about 3/4 of the year. Engineered Garments make my favorite version, but this fall The Real McCoy's made a great reproduction. With heavyweight wool, a nicely sized collar and pocket, it stays very true to the original, which is just what you want with an item like this.

Who doesn't like shopping? Especially from your own home or work, where you can also comment on blogs from safety. Just in time for the holidays, Makr and Old Faithful have just launched new online stores. Makr features a tidy, clean design featuring beautiful product photography and new products including their fold weekend tote bag and the leather and steel clothing hooks. Old Faithful finally makes available some of their great selection such as the Bag'n'Noun bags, wool blankets and Opinel knives. Both stores make it easy to shop and easy to find something I want.

01: New Issue

Words

It seems like the world of online magazines has expanded and grown well beyond what I ever imagined it would be like. However, I might argue that the best have all come from Canada, and 01 magazine follows suit. Their latest issue is filled with interviews, editorials and photo stories. Besides the interview with Visvim's Hiroki Nakamura, they also spoke to Chris Allen, who is largely responsible for the look and feel of Inventory magazine. The new online issue also has some great photography by Jennilee Marigomen, especially the shots from 'Kim's Closet'.

Preview: Stussy Canada

Words

A couple of weeks ago Owen and I started working on a small project for Stussy. The international brand has played a huge role in the growth of streetwear and the way that collaboration has become a big part of the market. This Saturday, Stussy is launching a Canada specific range featuring simple, basic items such as fleece sweats, cotton tees, button up shirts and a hand-knit Cowichan sweater made by Canadian Sweater Company. I recently shot some looks for the small capsule collection and Owen will be producing a short video aspect of the project within the next couple of weeks.

I shot all of the images with my Canon F1 35mm camera. I used a mix of colour and black and white film for the shoot. I was mostly focused on using the black and white as much as possible, and I felt pretty good about how the shots came out overall.

Words

January's Free & Easy has just been released and the theme of the latest edition is boots. It's a great issue, and a special one for myself and James as we were both asked to contribute. I was interviewed and James produced a series of portraits. You'll have to pick up a copy to see the former, but here's a selection of James' photographs. Thanks again to everyone who agreed to take part, and to Free & Easy for asking us to be involved.

In Stock: Inverallan for Inventory Items Knit Caps

Words

Unfortunately this year saw Inverallan scale back their business to existing retailers, mainly in Japan. However, we are excited to continue our relationship with the experienced hand knitters. Currently in the depths of the Scottish winter, our cardigans are trapped by snow. Luckily this season's cable knit caps made it out before the change in weather. They're available in five colours - red, loden, oatmeal, grey and blue - and are a great way to keep warm, look sharp and add some nice colour and texture to an outfit.

Red Wing Postman Chukka

Words

When Red Wing first reissued their Postman oxford shoe, I wasn't particularly a fan of the new, old model. Something about the shape of it didn't feel quite right. The chukka, however, looks much nicer. I like the silhouette, and it offers a slightly rugged, yet formal looking option. I also like the appeal of its origin and how they seem to wear over time.

South 2 West 8 Winter Sweater

Words

With the holidays around the corner, decorated sweaters are about to hit their prime season. Thick winter sweaters adorned with skiers, trees and snowflakes will be out in full force, but there aren't a lot of them I'd like to wear myself. This piece from South 2 West 8 has a nice look and feel to it though; and while it is probably best suited to the middle of winter, the colors and styling feel classic enough to be a little more versatile.
