I haven't come across the Birkenstock Basel before, but its simple mix of wool and leather looks rather nice, especially for the fall. The slip-on style is a nice alternative to the Boston, not that you really need one. The two-tone effect is rather nice, and unless you were able to score one of the exclusive Japanese models from Unionmade, there might not be a lot of options. They pair perfectly with some thick warm socks in the winter, and they combine well with denim or army trousers.

Although a helluva lot of folks like to' dis 'Birkenstocks as being uncool,i think certain styles are fine for weekends, holidays,washing the car, etc etc.Dont like these woolly ones but the same style in leather are great.
